Job Description

**Organization Overview:**
IfNotNow is building a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, cross-class movement of American Jews to organize our community to end US support for Israel’s apartheid system and call for equality, justice, and a thriving future for all Palestinians and Israelis. We are fighting for a vision of collective liberation: where Jewish safety does not come at the expense of others, but is intertwined with the liberation of all people.

The Communications Director is responsible for IfNotNow’s public voice and communications strategy across traditional media and digital platforms. The Communications Director leads the Communications Department to develop and tell a coherent and compelling story about IfNotNow’s ongoing organizing, including both rapid-fire decision-making and big-picture thinking about how to make critical narrative interventions in discourse around Israel-Palestine as American Jews. The Communications Director is also a member of the Organizational Leadership Team, responsible for overall organizational culture and strategy.

- Lead Communications Department to develop overall Communications strategy, including:

- Manage Deputy Communications Director to identify traditional and earned media opportunities and support spokespeople through TV appearances, interviews, and op-eds
- Develop messaging guidance, tools, and resources to support volunteers across the movement to take action.
- Support Communications Team to develop and support structures for work to be driven, when possible, by volunteers, with leadership development plans.
- Alongside the Political Director and National Spokesperson, coordinate with partner organizations, including soliciting ongoing feedback on narrative strategy

_Management, Supervision, and Collaboration_
- Manage and coordinate the work of a five-person Communications Department and related communications consultants and volunteers to execute narrative strategy across multiple channels
- Build relationship and capacity by clearly communicating performance expectations, inviting and delivering clear feedback, and identifying opportunities for growth
- Manage the communications budget and use of team resources
- Participate in the Organizational Leadership Team to support the organization’s overall culture and strategy, and deepen the organization’s commitment to volunteer leadership, racial equity and inclusion, and long term sustainability

- Experience in communications, including:
