**Job Title:** Major Gifts Officer
**Reports to:** Director of Philanthropy
**Job Status: **Full-time, salaried, exempt

Its sister organization, Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA), is an organization led by changemakers fighting for social, racial, and economic transformation.

**Why you'll love this job:**
We are looking for a strong relationship-builder and fundraiser to lead our major gifts work to cultivate and build a stronger individual donor base. Candidates must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented fundraiser and be aligned with our organizational mission. Ideal candidates will have a basic knowledge of C3 and C4 organizations and the fundraising implications or the proven ability to quickly grasp this knowledge.


**What You'll Do:**

- **Major gifts**
- Manage and expand relationships with existing donors.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward new donors
- Conduct donor/prospect research, using free and paid resources
- Directly interact with, engage, and solicit donors (both virtually and in-person, when appropriate) to secure gifts between $1,000 - $5,000.
- Support the Executive Director and Director of Philanthropy to solicit donors and to secure gifts over $5,000.
- Prepare written materials such as, direct asks and thank-you letters.
- Oversee and execute all steps of the moves management process.
- Analyze data to identify untapped donor pools, and look externally to discover new prospective donors.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of donors.
- **Team and organizational leadership**
- Work with appropriate program staff to secure programmatic information and align fundraising plans with programmatic priorities.
- Partner with colleagues to identify opportunities to engage prospective donors in existing events and/or support or facilitate such opportunities to be more inclusive of external audiences.
- Support work to build a culture of fundraising into the organization. Support staff in building consistent narratives about our work.
- **Other**
- Compose correspondence, prepare presentations, reports, and other ad-hoc assignments, such as Google Slide presentations, collection, analysis, and summary of information using Google Sheets or other Google Suite programs.
- Timely distributes business communications.
- Protect the integrity of confidential information in all matters.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong relationship-builder: Enthusiasm for meeting and engaging with funders. Listens closely to understand needs and can communicate effectively to alleviate concerns. Takes pride in providing clear, helpful information. Comes across as genuine and trustworthy.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills: Can produce compelling, well-organized written communication, including emails, slide decks, donor briefings and more.. Aims for accuracy and attention to detail. Speaks clearly and compellinging on behalf of the organization to a range of current and potential funders in Arizona and across the country and with a range of giving potential. Can learn, internalize, and incorporate our “voice” in both written and verbal communications.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented: Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans backwards to make deadlines. Notices and fixes errors that others might overlook. Has a track record of leaving things better than they found them.
- Aligned with our mission and values: Aligned with our mission to educate, empower, and engage our state's working families to create solutions to issues of social and economic justice.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience of at least 3 years’ experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired as necessary.
- Ability to take on projects related to organization with minimal oversight.
- Ability to have a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail, clearly communicating status updates.
