Overview
Assemble is a leading digital-first media and public affairs firm that works with candidates, labor unions, companies, and non-profit organizations across the country to shape public opinion and mobilize communities, stakeholders, and supporters. We are looking for an associate director to help lead our Elections and Labor sector work.
Role
You will focus on working with campaigns, independent expenditures, party committees, labor union clients and our internal teams to manage client relationships and workflow, grassroots advocacy and fundraising programs, and voter persuasion and mobilization programs. You’ll work with our paid media, creative, grassroots advocacy and digital communications teams to develop media and digital plans, craft messaging, and help direct creative, media and content from conception to execution. Core areas of expertise include:
- Campaigns & Elections: Advise campaigns, independent expenditures and party committees on digital-first strategies, including voter persuasion, grassroots fundraising, and social media.
- Labor Movement: Advise labor unions on strategies related to union organizing, political, and advocacy campaigns.
- Client Services: Successfully liaise between client and service teams to produce high quality client deliverables and deliver excellent client services.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects to ensure clients needs are met and service teams have what they need to produce deliverables ahead of deadlines.
- Communications: Work with service teams to develop messaging and execute campaigns for clients, including advertising, email, and social media strategies.
- Research: Engage in subject matter research and quickly get up to speed on political, policy, and labor issues to inform strategic recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between clients, Assemble leadership, and service teams.
- Translate client strategy into actionable project plans and manage both the client side and internal service teams.
- Work seamlessly with members of the firm, including designers, video editors, digital strategists, and paid media experts.
- Craft client-facing memos, decks, reports, messaging, and other written materials that advance client goals or support business development needs.
Qualifications
- 4-7 years of professional experience leading and managing communications, digital, and or advertising campaigns for electoral, labor unions and/or advocacy organizations.
- The ideal candidate has experience with both digital persuasion advertising and grassroots fundraising and/or advocacy.
- Experience communicating results, budgets, and plans to leadership and stakeholders preferred.
- Strong project management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative problem solver who is able to forecast needs, solve problems, generate new ideas and work with team members to execute quickly.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a high-pressure fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work extended hours if/when needed and comfortable being available outside of normal business hours for urgent requests.
Compensation
Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000
