Assemble is a leading political and public affairs firm that partners with companies, coalitions, and associations across financial services, energy, sports and entertainment, technology, labor, and healthcare.
The Chief of Staff is a high-impact operational role responsible for driving key organizational initiatives and ensuring strategic priorities are executed across the agency. This role will serve as a strategic partner to the Leadership team, leading cross-functional projects, optimizing internal operations, and advancing the agency’s growth objectives. The Chief of Staff will work closely with department leads across Sector and Service teams to break down silos, implement process improvements, and deliver on critical organizational goals. This position is ideal for a highly organized, strategic thinker who thrives in fast-paced environments and can lead complex projects from conception through execution. This position is a limited term and will end by December 2026.
Day-to-Day
You will lead strategic projects that span multiple departments, identify and implement operational improvements, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, and track progress on organizational priorities. You’ll prepare materials for leadership discussions, analyze business operations to identify opportunities, and ensure that key initiatives stay on track and deliver results.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Project Leadership: Drive high-priority organizational initiatives including process improvements, new service development, team structure optimization, and operational efficiency projects — in collaboration with the COO and Senior Staff.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Lead cross-departmental working groups and initiatives, ensuring alignment between paid media, creative, digital comms, and advocacy teams
- Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies across the organization; help design and implement solutions to improve workflows, systems, and team performance
- Process Design & Implementation: Develop and roll out new processes, tools, and systems to scale the agency’s operations and improve internal and external experiences
- Leadership Team Support: Facilitate leadership meetings, prepare agendas and materials, drive follow-through on strategic decisions, and ensure accountability across initiatives
- Hiring and Developing the Best: Assist in the hiring process and help facilitate growth opportunities for the team
- Special Projects: Take on high-impact projects as assigned by the COO, ranging from to client experience improvements to team development initiatives and so on
Qualifications
- 4–7 years of professional experience in operations, project management, strategy consulting, or a chief of staff role
- Self-starter with experience in digital marketing, political campaigns, public affairs, or agency environments strongly preferred
- Proven track record leading complex, cross-functional projects from start to finish
- Strong strategic thinking combined with exceptional execution skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Experience implementing process improvements and driving organizational change
- Highly organized and proficiency with project management tools (Asana, Notion, or similar)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in Excel/Google Sheets and data visualization
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple high-stakes projects simultaneously
- Natural problem-solver who can anticipate needs and work independently
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
- Discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information
Compensation
Salary Range: $80,000-110,000
