Role
Assemble is a leading political and public affairs firm that partners with companies, coalitions, and associations across financial services, energy, sports and entertainment, technology, labor, and healthcare.
We are seeking a Senior Vice President to lead stakeholder & political engagement efforts for our Corporate & Issue Advocacy sector. This role is designed for an experienced strategist who excels at building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholder groups including policymakers, coalition partners, industry leaders, community organizations, and advocacy networks. The SVP will serve as the primary architect of stakeholder & political engagement strategies, identifying key influencers, mapping decision-maker networks, and creating pathways for client priorities to gain traction with critical audiences. They will manage complex multi-stakeholder initiatives, facilitate consensus-building among diverse groups, and translate client objectives into compelling engagement strategies that drive policy and public affairs outcomes. The ideal candidate brings deep relationships across policy, advocacy, or industry ecosystems, thrives in convening and relationship-building roles, and has a proven track record of moving stakeholders from awareness to action.
Responsibilities
Stakeholder Strategy & Relationship Management
- Design and execute comprehensive stakeholder & political engagement strategies that identify, prioritize, and activate key decision-makers and influencers.
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, coalition partners, industry associations, community leaders, and advocacy organizations on behalf of clients.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholder communications, managing outreach, meetings, and ongoing relationship cultivation.
- Develop stakeholder mapping and analysis to identify leverage points, potential allies and opponents, and opportunities for coalition expansion.
- Facilitate stakeholder convenings, roundtables, and working groups to build consensus and advance client priorities.
Coalition & Partnership Development
- Identify and manage coalition partners along with third-party validators to amplify client campaigns.
- Negotiate partnership agreements and coordinate activities across diverse organizational stakeholders.
- Work with state and federal lobby teams, PR agencies, grassroots organizations, and industry groups to create unified advocacy efforts.
Client Leadership & Strategic Counsel
- Serve as senior advisor to clients on stakeholder & political engagement approaches, political landscape analysis, and relationship-building tactics.
- Lead client presentations focused on stakeholder insights, political intelligence, and engagement opportunities.
- Translate complex stakeholder dynamics into clear strategic recommendations and actionable plans.
- Proactively identify opportunities to deepen stakeholder networks and expand client influence.
Campaign Integration & Execution
- Ensure stakeholder & political engagement strategies are integrated with broader digital, communications, and advocacy campaigns.
- Oversee the development of stakeholder-facing materials including briefing documents, one-pagers, presentation decks, and correspondence.
- Manage outreach efforts including meeting requests, follow-up communications, and relationship tracking systems.
- Coordinate rapid response stakeholder & political engagement during legislative sessions, regulatory comment periods, or crisis moments.
Team Leadership & Development
- Mentor and manage team members responsible for stakeholder research, outreach coordination, and relationship management.
- Provide guidance on stakeholder & political engagement best practices, political navigation, and relationship-building techniques.
- Foster a culture of strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving within the stakeholder & political engagement function.
Business Development & Thought Leadership
- Represent Assemble’s stakeholder & political engagement capabilities in new business pitches and client expansion conversations.
- Develop frameworks, processes, and service offerings that strengthen Assemble’s stakeholder & political engagement practice.
- Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships through expanded stakeholder & political engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10–15 years of professional experience in government affairs, public policy, coalition management, or stakeholder engagement.
- Extensive network of relationships across policy, advocacy, industry, or regulatory ecosystems.
- Proven track record building and managing coalitions, partnerships, and multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Key understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at state and federal levels.
- Experience developing stakeholder engagement strategies that achieve measurable policy and advocacy outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex political and organizational dynamics with diplomacy and strategic insight.
- Strong project management skills with experience overseeing multiple stakeholder initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility with diverse audiences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic thinker who can balance long-term relationship cultivation with rapid response engagement.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-stakes environments with flexibility to accommodate urgent stakeholder needs and time-sensitive policy windows.
Compensation
Salary Range: $150,000-190,000

Location
Hybrid role in Washington D.C. or New York City preferred, with remote work available for the right candidate.
