Vice President / Associate Vice President, Advocacy Tech
Assemble the Agency
Role
Assemble is a leading political and public affairs firm that partners with campaigns, companies, coalitions, and associations across politics, labor, healthcare, sports and entertainment, and technology.
Our Advocacy & Influence team drives digital engagements, moving supporters to give money, sign petitions, and contact their lawmakers through high-volume email, SMS, and social media campaigns. We’re hiring a Vice President or Associate Vice President of Advocacy Tech to serve as the technical backbone of this Advocacy & Influence team. This is a hands-on, internal role for someone who lives at the intersection of digital advocacy and data infrastructure. You’ll own the technical architecture that makes all of it work, from platform configuration and list management to deliverability optimization and performance reporting.
You’ll serve as the team’s lead expert on advocacy and fundraising technology, bringing deep familiarity with the tools, platforms, and integrations that power modern digital organizing and advocacy programs. As the team continues to grow its client roster and expand into new program types, you’ll help define what best-in-class technical execution looks like at Assemble.
Responsibilities
Platform Management & Technical Setup
Serve as the primary technical lead across Assemble’s full advocacy and fundraising technology stack. Own the configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of platforms such as NGP VAN, EveryAction, Action Network, ActBlue, Frakture, Constant Contact, Speak4, AdvocacyAI, Switchboard, Daisychain, WordPress, and others as needed. Manage platform onboarding for new clients and ensure technical setup is completed accurately and on schedule.
Audience Segmentation & List Management
Lead audience segmentation strategy across email and SMS programs, developing targeting logic that drives performance across acquisition, cultivation, and conversion programs. Manage list hygiene, suppression logic, and data flows between CRMs and sending platforms to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Deliverability
Own email and SMS deliverability strategy across client programs. Monitor sender reputation, bounce rates, spam complaints, and inbox placement. Develop and enforce best practices around list health, authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and sending cadence to protect and improve deliverability for all clients.
Testing & Optimization
Design and execute A/B and multivariate tests across subject lines, send times, content formats, and calls to action. Synthesize test results into clear recommendations and build institutional knowledge around what drives performance for advocacy and fundraising programs.
Reporting & Analytics
Maintain reporting infrastructure for client email and SMS programs, including open rates, click rates, conversion rates, deliverability metrics, and revenue attribution. Work with the data team to maintain and optimize client-facing dashboards and performance reports that translate data into actionable insights.
Client Service & Cross-Team Collaboration
Serve as the technical point of contact for clients on platform questions, data workflows, and program troubleshooting. Work closely with strategists, copywriters, and media planners to ensure technical execution aligns with campaign goals. Contribute to new business pitches by scoping technical infrastructure and demonstrating platform expertise.
