Battleground Texas Engagement Fund is a 501 c (4) organization dedicated to civic engagement and voter registration as tools to build stronger communities. We believe that regular people like us can significantly impact elections, and we’re expanding the electorate by registering voters and mobilizing Texans to engage in the civic process.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join BGTX as a Social Media & Graphics Associate. This role will play a crucial part in shaping and implementing our social media strategy, with a focus on creating engaging graphics and managing our online presence. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of various social media platforms, excellent communication skills, and a passion for politics and social issues. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in political campaign work while making a real impact. The Social Media & Graphics Associate will be directly reporting to the Organizing and Coalitions Director.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with management to develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy.
  • Create compelling and visually appealing graphics, including infographics, banners, and promotional materials, to be used across various social media platforms.
  • Draft engaging and persuasive written content for social media posts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to campaign messaging.
  • Schedule and publish social media posts using appropriate tools and platforms, maintaining a consistent posting schedule and monitoring engagement metrics.
  • Assist in monitoring social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and engage with followers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with research and stay up to date with current political trends, news, and social issues to inform content creation and campaign messaging.
  • Monitor and analyze social media analytics to identify trends, track campaign performance, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with BGTX staff to coordinate social media efforts with other organizational activities and events.
  • Assist with organizing and promoting campaign events through social media platforms.
  • Stay informed about social media best practices, emerging trends, and platform updates, and proactively share knowledge and recommendations with the team.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience using various social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Canva) and experience creating visually appealing content.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and concise messages.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Passionate about politics, social issues, and making a difference through political engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with social media management tools & graphics design software
  • Knowledge of local political landscape and previous experience in political campaigns or advocacy organizations

Compensation: $20/hour

Time Commitment: The Social Media & Graphics Associate position is a part-time position working up to 15-20 hours a week. Due to the nature of the role, the ability to work evenings and weekends is required. This position has a scheduled end date of October 11, 2024, with the potential of extending based on programmatic needs and funding.
