About Battleground Texas Engagement Fund
Battleground Texas Engagement Fund is a 501 c (4) organization dedicated to civic engagement and voter registration as tools to build stronger communities. We believe that regular people like us can significantly impact elections, and we’re expanding the electorate by registering voters and mobilizing Texans to engage in the civic process.
About This Role:
The Regional Organizing Director (ROD) is responsible for leading a team of organizers in their region to execute a voter registration and organizing program being run in the Rio Grande Valley. The program will include relational organizing, community organizing and digital organizing components. We’re looking for an authentic, talented and resourceful person who is passionate about building grassroots political power in South Texas through voter registration and relationship building. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, team management, and coaching skills to develop a high-performing field team that builds lasting community engagement.
The Regional Organizing Director will:
- Hire, train, and manage a team of Regional Organizers (ROs) to effectively execute voter registration, relational organizing and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts.
- Support with the development and implement a strategic organizing plan for their assigned region, including goal-setting, tracking goals and metrics progress, and ensuring accountability.
- Train and support organizers on how to execute relational voter registration practices using the provided tools and resources and leverage existing relationships to conduct direct outreach to friends, family, and personal networks to get them registered to vote
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to organizers, equipping them with the tools to succeed.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with all Texas Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) rules and guidelines.
- Assist the regional team with the implementation of voter registration and quality control best practices to maximize voter registration efforts and impact.
- Develop, implement and document systems, workflows, and processes for tracking voter registration forms, ensuring smooth operations both in the field and in the office to uphold the highest standards of data integrity, accuracy, and compliance.
- Build relationships with key community stakeholders, including organizations, businesses, faith groups, and local leaders.
- Support the leadership team with the hiring process by recruiting, interviewing, and hiring full-time and part-time organizer candidates with strong ties to the RGV community.
- This job requires physical stamina and adaptability, as it involves:
- Carrying and setting up event materials (e.g., folding tables up to 35 lbs, canopy tents, supply wagons).
- Spending several hours walking or standing extensively for crowd canvassing at community events and neighborhood canvassing efforts.
- This is a field and admin-heavy role, requiring regular travel within the region and a commitment to direct engagement with coalition partners, organizers, volunteers, and voters.
As a field-based position, Regional Organizing Directors are expected to work in person at their regional office. Your team will be required to report face to face with you at the beginning and end of each shift to check in, collect materials, and debrief as needed.

Regional Organizing Directors will be expected to:
- Develop leadership within the team, providing ongoing training, mentorship, support and professional development.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment and retention efforts, ensuring strong and sustained volunteer engagement.
- Create and foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Develop and oversee regional voter registration, relational organizing and civic engagement plans, setting clear metrics and holding organizers accountable for achieving goals.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in voter registration and quality control efforts.
- Provide real-time problem-solving and support to organizers working in the field, helping them navigate challenges.
- Conduct regular field visits to observe organizers, provide feedback, coaching and directly engage with voters.
- Guide organizers in planning and executing voter registration events, ensuring they are logistically sound, well-staffed, and impactful.
- Build relationships with local community organizations and leaders to support and expand voter registration efforts.
- Troubleshoot last-minute logistical challenges and provide strategic guidance to ensure successful events.
- Train organizers and volunteers on best practices for data tracking and integrity, utilizing platforms like Empower, EveryAction, Blocks, Mobilize, and Google Suite.
- Ensure submission of daily field notes and updates, mileage, PTO/hour tracking, supplies requests and other operational expectations for your team.
- Monitor team progress using key performance indicators and adjust strategies as needed.
- Manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Support organizers in prioritizing tasks and managing their time effectively.
- Maintain flexibility to work evenings and weekends, particularly during peak voter registration periods and elections.

Skills & Qualifications:
- There are no formal education requirements for this position

- Ability to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar (VDR) in multiple Texas counties
- 18 years or older
- U.S. Citizen & a Texas Resident
- Not have been determined by final judgment of a court to be without the right to vote
- Not have been finally convicted of a felony, or if convicted, must have fully released from the resulting disability to vote.
- Never been convicted of failing to deliver a voter registration application to a voter registrar
- Leadership & Team Management – Experience managing, coaching, and developing a team, preferably in a field organizing or voter registration setting.
- Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving – Ability to create data-driven organizing plans and adapt strategies in real-time.
- Community Engagement & Relationship-Building – Strong ability to build partnerships with local organizations, leaders, and volunteers.
- Community Organizing Experience – Background in organizing, voter registration, campaign work, or advocacy is strongly preferred but not required.
- Data & Compliance Management – Experience using tools like Blocks, EveryAction, Mobilize, Google Suite, or other organizing databases.
- Strong Communication Skills – Ability to motivate, inspire, and train organizers and volunteers in a high-energy environment while keeping all team members updated with the appropriate notes and updates on an ongoing basis.
- Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion – Passion for engaging communities of color, young voters, and historically underrepresented groups in the electoral process.
- Confidence and situational awareness when engaging with new people alone in a variety of environments.
- Comfort with conflict resolution and de-escalation, ensuring respectful and productive interactions in all situations.

- You feel comfortable and safe engaging in conversations one-on-one in a variety of settings, including unfamiliar neighborhoods.
- You can remain calm, professional, and composed in challenging situations, using conflict resolution and de-escalation skills when needed.
- You are comfortable spending most of your time in the field engaging with organizers and voters directly.

Compensation:
All Battleground Texas
Regional Organizing Directors will receive a salary of $4,500 per month.
Time Commitment: This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week, with a minimum of 25 hours dedicated to face to face interactions with organizers and voters at community sites and events. The work week is Tuesday - Saturday, the ability to work Mondays, evenings and weekends is required.
Travel:
To complete the duties of this role, regular local travel to BGTX offices, voter registration events, and county elections offices will be required. Having reliable and regular transportation is a continued requirement of this role.
