Job Description: The California Democratic Party is looking for a Youth Vote Intern to organize on college campuses and in their community. The Youth Vote Intern will report directly to the Youth Vote Coordinator and will collaborate with CADEM’s Organizing Team for the 2024 Presidential Election. This is a hybrid position through November 15.

The Youth Vote Intern will join CADEM with the purpose of organizing and engaging with young people to turn out for the 2024 election. The preferred candidate will have the ability to lead and inspire students, partner organizations and other activists in the region.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct voter contact.
  • Volunteer recruitment and data management.
  • Help establish a new Democratic club on a college campus.
  • Create, lead, or participate in voter registration drives, phonebanks, tabling events, rallies, and other community events for the purposes of advancing the Youth Vote.
  • Partner with other Youth Vote groups on and off college campuses.
  • Attend trainings and workshop new ideas to engage young voters.
  • Support for statewide organizing goals and the work of other CADEM departments such as training, communications, fundraising, etc.
  • Assist with and participate in direct voter contact events including canvassing and phonebanking.

Qualifications and skills:

  • No prior campaign experience required!
  • Must be a currently enrolled student or recent alumni of University/College.
  • Commitment to building a strong team culture through training and mutual accountability.
  • Basic knowledge of PDI, Votebuilder/VAN is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of Google Docs, basic computer literacy, and access to a reliable laptop and Wifi connection.
  • Political campaign experience is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to be creative and experiment within the scope of the position.
  • An understanding of the California political landscape is a plus.
  • Multilingual is a plus.
