Summary
American Progress is seeking a Director of Digital Partnerships to support the Digital Advocacy team’s strategic engagement across the Center for American Progress and Center for American Progress Action Fund. This is a ground-floor opportunity to build, lead, and shape the strategy and direction of a growing team.
This role leads American Progress’ digital partnerships program across creators, allied organizations, and elected officials, and leads Rise—CAP Action’s partner Slack community—in service of driving larger digital reach and performance for progressive messaging content online.
The ideal candidate is skilled in relationship-building, digital strategy, and progressive advocacy, with a strong grasp of the online progressive ecosystem across platforms, creators, influencers, and organizations.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership strategy encompassing both creator and movement partnerships and aligned with overall team and organizational goals.
- Organize and host in-person events, briefings, and workshops to build movement capacity and improve shared resources among partners.
- Lead Rise, CAP Action’s partner Slack community of 600+ members across 200+ organizations, driving daily engagement and coordination.
- Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of partnerships projects.
- Work with staff to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with high-level political leaders, digital strategists, and creators.
- Where necessary, serve as the primary point of contact for top-tier partners.
- Identify and engage partners to advance CAP Action’s growth on YouTube, developing strategies to expand reach and build an audience on the platform.
- Lead the development and execution of coordinated strategies across creator and movement partnerships, ensuring alignment and maximizing impact.
- Manage and expand existing coalitions of movement partners, identifying opportunities for collaboration and engagement within and outside the progressive ecosystem.
- Work with partners to identify key gaps in the movement and opportunities to invest in shared tools.
- Work in close collaboration with internal teams to develop and improve shared resources that improve overall movement capacity.
- Manage staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Six to eight years of professional experience in social media, audience development, and/or digital content creation; political experience on a campaign or with an advocacy group or nonprofit is a plus.
- Expert networking skills and strong relationships within the progressive movement are a necessity; strong relationships outside the progressive movement are a plus.
- Ability to work proactively, self-start, and pay close attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience growing or managing YouTube partnerships and channels, with a strong working understanding of the platform, is a plus.
- Previously demonstrated team leadership skills and a high level of competency in a supervisory/management role.
- Solid understanding of progressive values and policies and how they intersect with the news.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects, often in rapid-response and high-pressure situations.
- Creativity and commitment to innovation and experimentation.
- Openness to developing new skills as needed.
- Positive team player with a passion for progressive change.
