Topline:
COURIER seeks a Video Editor (Contract) to join its national division to support production on its podcast and video products.
Responsibilities include:
- Create compelling social-first video content from COURIER’s longer-form video series and podcasts
- Edit and publish long-form video products for YouTube
- Closely monitor national political news for video or audio sound bites, download and rapidly edit breaking news videos for social media publication, primarily on TikTok and Instagram
- Produce and edit footage from principals’ media appearances, speaking engagements, and other events
- Work with internal and external talent to produce original video content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
- Create platform-specific social media copy to accompany all videos
The ideal candidate will have some of the following:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Digital Media, Film, Audio, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- Experience creating high-performing video content for organizations or brands
- Strong understanding of social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube), algorithms, and best practices is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative ideas
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and Descript
- Willingness to work irregular hours during select breaking news moments or key political events (i.e. conferences, presidential debates, press events, election nights, speaking engagements)
- Strong background in political content creation or progressive journalism
