As Deputy Press Secretary and Booker, you will play a key role in shaping and executing DASS’s media strategy across print and broadcast. Your responsibilities will include drafting compelling press releases and talking points, developing strategic booking plans, and crafting pitches that secure high-impact media opportunities. You'll also build and maintain strong relationships with major networks to elevate DASS members and leadership on the national stage.

The Deputy Press Secretary and Booker will report to the Communications Director. The position is fully remote.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute strategic TV and radio booking plans, pitching producers and building strong relationships with broadcast networks and local stations nationwide.
  • Craft compelling press releases and media assets to effectively communicate DASS’s message.
  • Design and implement a long-term strategy to expand DASS’s presence across the airwaves.
  • Draft talking points and prep materials for principals ahead of media appearances, actively participating in preparation sessions.
  • Proactively pitch stories to local and national media to elevate DASS’s visibility and impact.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1 cycle of campaign communications experience
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to think creatively about branding a growing Democratic organization
  • Passionate about media trends and TV coverage
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with reporters and producers

SALARY & BENEFITS

Salary for the Deputy Press Secretary and Booker position is $5,000 to $6,000 a month, commensurate with experience. DASS offers a generous benefit package, including:

  • More than 25 days of paid time off, including for Federal holidays, time off around Federal holidays including the week between Christmas and New Year, vacation, sick, and personal days
  • Fully paid health/vision/dental insurance for the employee
  • Enrollment in a SIMPLE IRA plan
  • Monthly phone reimbursement
