The Democratic National Committee is hiring a Social Media Monitor to support our efforts to detect and counter online misinformation. You will be responsible for detecting misinformation narratives and harmful, manipulated media in real-time and supporting deep-dive research into social media manipulation networks. The Social Media Monitor will report to the Director of Social Media Analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct real-time misinformation and manipulated media monitoring
  • Provide real-time context to misinformation trends and initial counter-misinformation recommendations
  • Support research projects into social media manipulation networks
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will be an experienced social media analyst with a background in social media research or integrity work.
  • Experience with open source investigations into online manipulation, misinformation, and/or extremism.
  • Willingness to work long hours in a fast-paced, real-time media monitoring environment.
  • A deep understanding of social media dynamics and company policies.
The starting salary for the Social Media Monitor position is $65,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
