The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is seeking a National Organizing Director to lead the development and execution of strategic organizing initiatives supporting Democratic campaigns across the country. This role is critical to building and sustaining the national grassroots infrastructure that drives Democratic victories up and down the ballot. The National Organizing Director will be responsible for designing high-level organizing strategy, managing a team of regional and national organizing staff, and coordinating resources and best practices across state parties, national programs, and allied organizations. This leader will ensure the Democratic Party’s organizing efforts are innovative, data-driven, and scalable — leveraging field, digital and distributed organizing models to maximize voter contact and engagement.
The National Organizing Director will report to the Political Director and work in close partnership with the DNC’s Mobilization, Voter Protection, Technology & Data, Finance, Communications, and Coalitions departments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, oversee, and continuously refine a national organizing strategy that supports Democratic campaigns at all levels, incorporating field, digital and distributed organizing.
- Manage and support a team of national program leads (Distributed Organizing, States, Volunteer Experience, Platforms/Tools).
- Work closely with the Data and Analytics team to define organizing metrics, accountability systems, and progress-to-goal tracking across regions and states.
- Drive integration of organizing priorities across DNC departments and with external stakeholders, ensuring organizing is a central focus of national campaign efforts.
- Oversee distributed volunteer programs, including national volunteer engagement hubs and remote action programs.
- Provide strategic organizing guidance and support to state parties, coordinated campaigns, and priority races, helping scale best practices and resources.
- Collaborate with Digital and Communications teams to ensure organizing messages and calls to action are embedded into public-facing campaigns.
- Analyze program data to optimize organizing strategies in real time.
- Represent the DNC’s organizing efforts with external partners, allied organizations, donors, and stakeholders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Political Director.
Qualifications:
- 5+ cycles of campaign organizing experience, including at least 1 cycle managing large-scale statewide or national organizing programs.
- Proven strategic leadership experience — designing, scaling, and optimizing field and/or distributed organizing programs.
- Deep familiarity with organizing platforms and tools.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across multiple departments and external partners.
- Strong data literacy: able to understand modeling, volunteer/voter targeting, metrics design, and reporting systems.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively under pressure.
- Commitment to innovation, adaptability, and a willingness to pilot new organizing models.
- A demonstrated passion for electing Democrats up and down the ballot and advancing Democratic values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of the organizing program.
The starting salary for the National Organizing Director position is $135,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.
Due to federal campaign finance rules, only U.S. citizens or U.S. green card holders are eligible for this role. See 52 U.S.C. 30121; 11 C.F.R. 110.20(i)
