The Democratic National Committee seeks a Grassroots Donor Relations Director who will lead our engagement efforts with donors, cultivating relationships both 1:1 and at scale that drive deeper investment to and connection with the Democratic party.
The Grassroots Donor Relations Director will report to the Grassroots Fundraising Director and will manage a growing team of professionals who are committed to supporting the Party’s grassroots donors. This role will manage the DNC’s growing monthly online sustaining donor program; cultivate mid-tier donors and encourage further investment; oversee the Party’s planned giving program and more. Responsibilities:

  • Direct and scale the DNC’s growing monthly online sustaining donor program, marrying innovative strategy with tried-and-true tactics that ensure grassroots recurring donors feel connected to the work of the Party.
  • Oversee the cultivation and stewardship of mid-tier donors ($1k+), giving these party builders a high-level touch and connection to the Party’s programming.
  • Manage, track and sort all inbound communications via mail and email, ensuring donor outreach is answered thoughtfully and promptly.
  • Manage the DNC’s planned giving program and continue growing the program’s reach.
  • Coordinate with the DNC’s Email & SMS, Direct Marketing, Digital Ads and broader Content and Creative team to grow donor cultivation strategy across all channels and donor groups.
  • Work closely with the DNC’s fundraising analytics team to build reporting, run tests, and ensure all efforts are based on data.
  • Collaborate with the DNC’s major donor team.
  • Track and report out supporter engagement and feedback to DNC senior leadership.
  • Provide every grassroots supporter with a positive experience when interacting with the DNC.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in grassroots fundraising for a political campaign, nonprofit or advocacy organization.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Preferred that the candidate has an understanding of a large-scale email fundraising program, monthly donor program, principal call time, and/or direct mail.
  • Experience managing important projects and working across teams to achieve goals, and ability to collaborate respectfully and effectively with others.
  • Experience using data analytics to drive programmatic decision making.
  • A commitment to improving the DNC’s donor and supporter experience.
The starting salary for the Grassroots Donor Relations Director position is $110,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.
