The Democratic Party of Georgia is seeking an Executive Director. In partnership with the Chair, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategy, activities, management, and growth of the party. This specifically includes, but is not limited to, election-based activities; fundraising; budgeting; staff recruitment and retention; communications; outreach; and building party infrastructure. This position will have a particular focus on fundraising and internal department development.
This position has a wide range of responsibilities, serving as a trusted advisor to and strategic asset for the state party chair, elected and party officials, candidates, and leaders across the state. This is a full-time position and based in Atlanta, GA. Applicants can apply here by January 15.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations
- Serve as chief strategist and tactician for the Democratic Party of Georgia
- Implement the vision and processes of the Chair and leadership effectively
- Directly manage leadership team and oversee communications / digital, finance, voter protection, outreach, data, operations, compliance, and other staff – both broad goals and daily execution, performance, hiring and firing, and all other day-to-day staffing responsibilities
- Manage the development and oversight of political and campaign strategy
- Builds and nurtures relationships with in-state elected officials and stakeholders, as well as national committees and organizations with which the party is permitted to coordinate
- Maintain a working knowledge of campaign finance, election, and compliance laws, working closely with the designated compliance firm and legal counsel to ensure all party activities are compliant and reports are filed with accuracy and timeliness
- Serve as a spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Georgia as needed
- Write and execute a comprehensive finance plan with Finance Director and senior leadership team, securing buy-in from elected leaders, partners, and other allies
- Ensures cash flow and budgetary projections are met, while creatively developing other revenue streams
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Strong abilities in organizational planning for strategy and program, including developing organizational strategic plans, campaign plans, and finance plans
- Extensive team management skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve high levels of performance and outcomes
- Conflict and crisis management experience with a proven ability to make decisions and lead with integrity, integrating the input of appropriate stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build relationships
- Clear, effective, high-quality communicator – both verbally and in writing
- Highly responsive to internal and external requests, within reason
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines
- Familiarity with multi-million-dollar budgets, complex tracking systems, and campaign finance laws
- Demonstrated fundraising success, and an understanding of fundraising channels
- Familiar with a full complement of office tools, including Microsoft and Google suites, zoom, and NGP VAN
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel extensively throughout the state and nationally, often for several days at a time
- Georgia campaign or other political experience
- Existing Georgia or national donor networks

Compensation and Location
- The annual salary range for this role is $135,000 – $150,000.
- This is a full-time, exempt, in-person position in Atlanta that will often require work in the evenings, on holidays, and over weekends. Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Atlanta, GA.
