Communications & Social Media Intern

The Democratic Party of Georgia is seeking a Communications & Social Media Intern to support our work electing Democrats up and down the ballot! We are seeking a self-starter with a passion for digital content creation, strong writing skills, and a desire to jump into the world of Georgia Democratic campaigns.
This is a part-time, paid internship (20 hours a week/$15 an hour) based in Atlanta. A hybrid work schedule will be allowed, but we will prioritize applicants who are available during regular business hours (9-5) and can come into our downtown Atlanta office. The Comms & Social Media Intern will report to the Communications Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
With supervision, draft and schedule content for Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), and Threads to uplift our candidates, issues and party messaging.
With supervision, draft written communications from DPG, including newsletters, press releases and talking points.
Create high-quality graphics and edit photos and videos for multiple platforms.
Grow platform followers and monitor analytics to improve engagement.
Monitor news and trends across social platforms and identify rapid-response opportunities to respond to breaking news.
As available, attend campaign events to take photos and capture video of our candidates for social media content.
Other tasks as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A solid grasp of trends and best practices in social media content creation.
Proficiency in graphic design tools & video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Canva).
Strong, engaging, and clear writing abilities for a specific narrative voice.
Previous experience with social media and/or communications in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to attend occasional Party and campaign events to capture content.
Passion for electing Democrats up and down the ballot in Georgia!
