The Democratic Party of Georgia is looking for a dedicated and energetic Party Affairs Intern to help us strengthen our core operation, offer additional resources to local party organizations, and help achieve our top political objectives to elect as many democrats across the state of Georgia as possible. This position will report directly to our Party Affairs Directors and will also have general supervision from our Executive Director.

This position will require an individual to be a self-starter, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced political environment. Candidates with experience building relationships among diverse groups of individuals are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support our Party Affairs Directors with project and events, specifically the Democratic Party of Georgia’s State Convention in August
  • Assist with outreach and RSVP follow up for meetings and events
  • Assist state committees and caucuses with administrative tasks as needed
  • Attend and report on county committee, caucus, council and standing committee meetings in place of the Party Affairs Directors as needed
  • Work with our Party Affairs Director to organize and purchase supplies for events
  • Serve as onsite staff support for State Convention in Savannah, GA and other in-person meetings as needed
  • Coordinate and support volunteers effectively in order to assist with state party meetings and other events
  • Assist with record keeping and organizing documents related to conducting state party business
  • Must be flexible to work outside of traditional work hours (if needed) leading up to State Convention – including attending the Convention on a weekend

Qualifications and Skills

  • Be a Democrat and have demonstrated political beliefs that fit with the Democratic Party’s mission
  • Previous experience with the Democratic Party and politics, including volunteering with county committees or campaigns is a plus
  • Be resourceful and able to solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Have excellent project management skills, as well as organization and time management.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, also a working knowledge of VoteBuilder is plus
