The Opportunity: As a Coordinated Campaign Director, you will oversee the execution of the WisDems' Coordinated Campaign and our efforts to elect Democratic candidates up-and-down the ticket. This includes managing and overseeing the Organizing, Voter Protection, Data, GOTV & Coordinated Operations departments. You will be a valued thought partner in developing strategies to maximize volunteers, management strategy, helping Departments hit their goals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and direct overall Coordinated program, in conjunction with state and national partners, to meet electoral goals of the Coordinated Campaign.
- Manage the planning and execution of the Organizing, Voter Protection, Data, GOTV & Coordinated Operations departments to ensure strategic imperatives are met.
- Oversee hiring, staff structure & ramp for Coordinated Campaign staff.
- Ensure accountability of staff, programs, and activities by developing, setting, and implementing performance milestones, and ensuring these milestones are met and progress is continually demonstrated toward their fulfillment.
- Develop and maintain relationships alongside with state and national partners to create buy-in for our joint program including, but not limited to, running Coordinated table meetings.
- Prepare and present reports, memoranda, and other written materials for state and national partners.
- Maintain and grow the organizational strength of the Coordinated campaign – from staying at the cutting edge of tactics and technology, to continuously iterating and optimizing the organizing structure, to deepening a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and innovation.
- Oversee Coordinated Campaign paid programming e.g. creating and managing an early, effective paid canvass program with maximum transparency and reporting.
- Manage projects across departments within the Coordinated Campaign as well as across the WisDems organization to ensure we are being efficient and effective in reaching our campaign goals.
- Oversee and develop a statewide GOTV plan to support Democrats up and down the ticket.
- Partner with the Executive Director and partners to ensure systems and procedures of WisDems are efficient, effective, equitable, and inclusive.
- Oversee and manage the Coordinated Campaign budget, working with compliance to ensure adherence to state and federal campaign finance rules and regulations.
- Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
- Managing and reviewing time off requests
- Hiring new team members
- Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
- Building rapport and trust within your team
- Leading projects and delegating tasks through multiple layers
- On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.
Qualifications (Required):

- Management Skills - Ability to manage relationships within your team, bring out the best in your employees, and treat employees equitably across lines of difference.
- Experience managing multi-level staffing structures.
- Established Interpersonal and General Communication Skills - Ability to build, maintain, and increase the trust, report, and confidence of state and national partners.
- Experience with Complex Situation Resolution - Specifically, experience resolving complex HR and conduct issues within a team.
- Previous Political Experience - Substantial experience working or volunteering for election campaigns or political party organizations; experience working with a state party, statewide or national political campaign, or equivalent experience working with an organization that worked closely with a state party.
- Exemplary Time Management and Organizational Skills - Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines.
- Ability to work long, irregular hours, and maintain a positive attitude.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Experience as a senior staff member for an election campaign, coordinated campaign, or party organization.
- Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of elections, including campaign techniques, campaign planning, targeting, polling, and get-out-the-vote programs.
- Lived experience with and familiarity with Wisconsin; strong relationships with state and national partners, Democratic Party of Wisconsin members, elected officials, unions, and grassroots leaders throughout the state and across lines of race and place.
