The Opportunity: As the 72 County Director, you will work to build and implement the new 72 County Program by overseeing a staff of eight 72 County Coordinators working across the state to better support and uplift our Party Units. You will be responsible for ensuring that Party Units throughout the state have the resources they need to succeed, are supported by WisDems, and are able to grow and thrive.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build a 72 County support program that aims to support and uplift our Local Party Units across the state.
  • Hire and oversee “72 County Coordinators”, each responsible for implementing this support programming in their own turf.
  • Work closely with the Political Director to strategize on support program for our Party Units across the state.
  • Update the Political Director frequently on the status of the program, along with any helpful flags, concerns, updates, etc. in relation to our Party Units.
  • As needed alongside the Coordinators you oversee, step in to strategize with WisDems Local Party Units to assist them in their growth and development, with particular focus on the aspects of their unit they want to prioritize (e.g. membership, community outreach and engagement, etc).
  • Meet and communicate with Party Unit leaders frequently to understand their needs, challenges, and help get them the resources they need.
  • Oversee the administration of the WisDems Membership program.
  • Travel to turf to meet with your Coordinators and Party Unit Leaders.
  • Lead the collaboration with other WisDems teams to identify trainings and resources they can provide to Party Units, then work with your Coordinators to organize these trainings and dissemination of resources.
  • Lead the statewide signage and campaign material distribution program.
  • Execute and manage special projects assigned to the Political Department as directed that can range from State Convention assignments, Surrogate Events, Story Teller Recruitment, and more.
  • Assist Party Units with on-the-ground candidate recruitment.
  • Owning special projects as assigned.
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

Qualifications (Required):

  • 2+ election cycles of experience working in a political party or on an election campaign.
  • Organizational Skills - Demonstrated ability to handle incoming information from several mediums while remaining incredibly organized.
  • Manages a high volume of work with efficiency - Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans backwards to make deadlines. Asks for help when needed.
  • Scheduling Experience - Have the skillset to handle multiple calendars successfully.
  • Confidentiality Management - Experience or ability to navigate multiple sources of confidential information with discretion.
  • Growth Mindset - Ability to take and implement feedback.
  • Relentlessly Goal-Oriented - Enjoys working toward and achieving ambitious goals. Keeps calm in stressful situations. Has the capacity and willingness to work long hours during peak season, rolling up their sleeves and getting the work done.
  • Cultural Competency - Able to build authentic relationships across lines of difference, such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, gender identity, citizenship status, or other identities. Understands how to take an inclusive lens into all aspects of work.
