Political Manager/Deputy Political Director

Elissa Slotkin for Michigan is seeking a Political Manager/Deputy Political Director (depending on experience) to join our growing political team. This position will support the Senator in an operations, political, and strategic capacity – and will require frequent travel.
The Political Manager/Deputy Political Director will report to the Political Director.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- In collaboration with the Political Director, develop strategic plans for national travel and execute trips to support midwestern Democrats.
- Work closely with the Senator’s scheduling and operations teams to develop thoughtful and effective itineraries for trips and visits.
- Write and create briefing material for political meetings and events. Regularly staff the Senator for meetings and on trips.
- Manage correspondence and contact data base for political contacts.
- Coordinate communications with elected officials and candidates across the country, serve as a main contact for political organizations and advocacy groups.
- Other duties as assigned by the Political Director.
Qualifications:
- At least three cycles of applicable experience with political campaigns or equivalent experience with a political, organizing, elected office, electoral, or issue organization.
- Proven ability to manage relationships and communicate effectively with elected officials and key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of and experience with Michigan and national elections.
- Self-starter, with strong written and verbal communication skills and strict attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to meet goals while working on a deadline.
- Ability to work irregular hours.
Hours and Compensation:
This is a full-time position and will require weekend and evening work, both remote and in person work. This position is based in either Washington, DC or Michigan – and will be expected to travel with the Senator.
The salary range for this position is between $5,500-$9,000 per month, pending experience. The candidate will have access to Elissa Slotkin for Michigan’s full suite of benefits.
