EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is searching for a Deputy Research Director to join our Women Vote Independent Expenditure team. The Deputy Research Director will assist the WV Research Director with candidate research and approving and fact-checking independent expenditure communications.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with Research Director to identify, prioritize, and produce candidate research and polling memos on schedule and with accuracy
  • Assist with fact-checking and backing up polling and paid media produced by Women Vote and outside consultants to ensure all voter communications are error-free and factual
  • Track targeted campaigns in the media, such as local news outlets, blogs, social media, TV and radio advertisements, as well as public polling
  • Recruit, train, and manage interns
  • Provide departmental support as needed
  • Assist with other duties as directed by Research Director
  • This position may require weekend and evening work

Qualifications

  • This is not an entry level position. This is a supervisory position, and excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail are a must
  • 3-5 years of research experience at a campaign, consulting firm, other Democratic independent expenditures, or DC committee
  • Demonstrated research skills, including original research, legislative tracking, and policy analysis, and experience writing long-form research memos
  • Strong writing, grammar, and organizational skills, including meticulous attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively
  • A proactive, self-starter who can take direction, but who can also be trusted to independently produce error-free research in a timely fashion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with fact-checking and approving paid media and/or polling a plus
  • Knowledge of Nexis, campaign finance databases, and other research databases a plus
  • All candidates should possess commitment and passion to elect Democratic pro-choice Women, as well as a commitment to the diversity of our candidates, membership, partners, and staff.
The salary range for this position is $83,000-$96,700 and comes with a comprehensive benefits package. The starting pay for this position is equal to others at the same level throughout the organization. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted directly. No calls, please.
Our office is based in Washington, DC. This position is eligible for full-time remote work. This is a cycle position with an end date of December 31, 2024.
