Grassroots Analytics (“GA”) is a political tech company dedicated to breaking down barriers in fundraising for progressive campaigns and causes. To facilitate that work, GA maintains a detailed database on more than 20 million active, left-leaning American donors, including data on net worth, ideological preferences, political donation history, non-profit donation history, demographics, and contact information. Our overall mission is to use that data to amplify forward-thinking voices, causes, and people.
We are looking for a Director of People to join the team and be an integral part of a growing company. The Director of People reports to the VP of Finance & Operations. This is a full-time in-office role at our DC office. We take a people-first approach to how we work: flexibility outside core hours (10am–4pm), 3pm dismissal on Fridays, and 33 days of PTO annually, increasing by 2 days per year of service up to 40 days.
Job Description
The Director of People will lead the human resources function and be able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The position reports directly to the VP of Operations and Finance and will be an integral part of the organization. This position carries out or oversees responsibilities in the following functional areas: professional development, performance management, benefits administration, total rewards, employee relations, talent acquisition strategy, compliance, onboarding, HR technology and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow the people function and the team’s development while continuing to further grow and shape culture
- Build and run a manager development program coaching leaders on performance conversations, team building, and people management fundamentals
- Design learning and development programming that gives every employee a visible path to level up, from onboarding through senior roles
- Own total rewards, including benefits design, optimization and administration, compensation review, job hierarchy and organizational structure
- Provide strategic talent acquisition support, including interviewing tactics and job description creation
- Support talent management cycle by being a business partner to managers and internal team members with sensitive employee situations
- Build and enforce a consistent policy framework from handbook to day-to-day practice and handling of sensitive personnel matters that scale with the company
- Research, recommend and maintain internal compliance policies; including pay, benefits, Workers Comp, FMLA and leave to be compliant with DC and federal laws
- Own the HR tech stack including evaluating, implementing, and maintaining systems that support recruiting, onboarding, performance, and people data ensuring data integrity and employee experience
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience with strategic experience leading and building the HR or People function, ideally with a fast growth start-up
- Expert in employee engagement and relations with a passion for expanding and leveling-up teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with executives and individuals at all levels
- Experience with HR technology, including HRIS, ATS, Performance Management and L&D systems
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and work in an ever-changing fast-paced and dynamic environment
- SHRM or HRCI certification desired, but not required
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $100,000-$125,000 plus benefits. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our office in Chinatown at 806 7th St NW, Washington, D.C. 20001
We offer 33 days of PTO + two additional days for every year with GA; 11 federal holidays; and full office closure between Christmas and New Years.
