Over the last decade, J Street’s political operation has grown into one of the largest and most sophisticated in national politics. JStreetPAC has emerged as the nation’s largest pro-Israel, pro-democracy PAC, distributing over $13m to 170+ endorsed pro-Israel, pro-peace candidates in the 2024 election cycle so far.
The J Street Political team seeks a PAC Manager who will play a key role in the department’s general operations and political strategy. The ideal candidate will be a self-starting, entrepreneurial thinker with keen political instincts, relationship management skills, and strong attention to detail. Some experience working on political campaigns and/or for advocacy organizations is required for this role.
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversee JStreetPAC’s endorsement process.
- Advise candidates and campaign staff in navigating the rapidly evolving Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its ramifications in US politics, in particular providing feedback and guidance while campaigns draft their Israel policy positions and related communications.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with campaigns and organizations from around the Democratic and progressive ecosystem.
- Manage overall strategy for JStreetPAC’s disbursement of political money to candidates, track fundraising totals, and identify opportunities to fundraise for PAC endorsees.
- Craft content for JStreetPAC’s email communications to campaign staff and relevant partners.
- Own J Street’s internal communications to keep staff informed on political updates.
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic political planning as a member of the public affairs team.
- Collaborate with J Street’s Engagement Team to create opportunities for leadership engagement with endorsed candidates and JStreetPAC, including hosting PAC events for supported candidates.
Qualifications and Skills
- Political familiarity: The ideal candidate will be politically aware and familiar with the motivating factors that guide federal candidates and campaigns.
- Proven relationship builder: The ideal candidate will have pre-existing relationships from across the progressive political ecosystem.
- Attention to detail: Succeeding in this position requires the ability to manage many projects at once while maintaining a commitment to a detail-oriented approach.
- Collaborative worker: Working across departments within the organization is essential to excelling in this role, as is working on a nimble political team.
- You are familiar with, or open to learning more about, issues related to the US-Israel relationship and the American Jewish community, and you are aligned with J Street’s mission and goals.
- Formal education requirements are less important than actual work experience. At least 2 years of relevant experience desired.
- Experienced Data Manager: The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Google Sheets/Excel and/or have experience with Salesforce or other CRMs.

Compensation
This is a full-time position, with occasional work outside traditional work hours on an as-needed basis. The salary is $52,500-$65,000, commensurate with experience. Per J Street's Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay and title are commensurate with experience and according to pay bands outlined in our CBA.

J Street recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in J Street’s bargaining unit and is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

There is potentially some travel associated with the role but this can be discussed if the physical demands of travel would prevent someone from applying.
