Position Title: J Street Digital Fundraising Strategist or Director

Reports to: National Political Director

Hire Date: As soon as possible; start date flexible for after election day

Want to help drive much-needed change in American politics, policy and the Jewish community when it comes to Israel/Palestine? Do you believe there has to be balance and nuance in the polarized debate over one of the toughest and most divisive issues in American politics? Are you committed to working for peace, justice, equality and democracy?

J Street is looking for a Digital Fundraising Strategist with experience growing digital fundraising programs for campaigns or advocacy organizations, who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get creative to maximize J Street’s grassroots fundraising program over email, sms and social channels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead J Street’s digital communication program by designing and implementing innovative digital fundraising, advocacy and communications campaigns
  • Create, monitor, and analyze A/B test results, determine specific variables to test and drive J Street’s digital fundraising program
  • Drive J Street’s paid and organic direct-to-donate fundraising online ads to maximize ROI and list growth
  • Create metrics and trackers to constantly monitor and strengthen J Street’s digital fundraising
  • Draft compelling communications for email, SMS and ads, grounded in storytelling, while being sensitive to J Street’s goals and interests in the Jewish community, on Capitol Hill and among other constituencies
  • Constantly search for and create digital partnership and surrogate opportunities to maximize engagement and list growth
  • Partner with broader communications team to implement best practices across J Street’s online channels to maximize conversion rates
  • Partner closely with J Street’s senior leadership team to build strategic marketing plans, including revenue forecasting and budgeting
  • Lead and/or collaborate with the Communications Team to conceptualize, set and follow content calendars with an eye toward unique deadlines, relevant dates, and hooks

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years or 2+ complete election cycles of experience leading a digital fundraising program
    • Experience may come from a campaign, nonprofit, digital firm, or any other dedicated cause you can translate into this role
  • Strong writing skills within a range of styles and formats, to include digital fundraising
  • Experience working with CRMs, SMS platforms, and donation platforms
  • Facility with data analysis, revenue and ROI tracking, and projections
  • Working knowledge of HTML
  • Openness to feedback, willingness to be wrong, and flexibility to pivot when necessary
  • Passion for and belief in the power of digital fundraising to influence our future
  • Demonstrated commitment to J Street’s vision and mission; strong fluency in J Street’s issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; the reality on the ground is constantly changing, requiring resilience, agility and speed

About J Street

J Street organizes pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy Americans to promote US policies that align with Jewish and democratic values, that help secure the State of Israel as a just, democratic homeland for the Jewish people, and that advance freedom, safety and self-determination for the Palestinian people.

J Street focuses its work in three main areas: (1) Advocating and demonstrating support for pro-Israel, pro-peace, pro-democracy policies in Congress, the media and the Jewish community; (2) Endorsing and raising money for federal candidates who share J Street’s agenda; and (3) Educating the public and raising awareness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution.

Compensation

This is a full-time position, with some work outside traditional work hours on an as-needed basis. The salary is $75,000-$95,000. Per J Street's Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay and title are commensurate with experience and according to pay bands outlined in our CBA.

J Street recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in J Street’s bargaining unit and is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
