Job Description

The Monica Tranel for Montana campaign is looking for an experienced and passionate individual to join our team in Montana’s 1st congressional district as our Communications Director. This position will work closely with Monica and the Campaign Manager to build and execute a robust communications strategy that generates earned media across the local, regional, and statewide outlets in the district and helps create a powerful, disciplined message from the campaign about who Monica is and what she stands for.

This is one of the top Red-to-Blue Congressional races in the country and will help determine who controls the House. Applications considered on a rolling basis, to ensure consideration please apply by April 22nd.

QUALIFICATIONS
● At least 2 years of communications experience on campaigns or in similar environments
(government office, businesses or nonprofits) required
● Experience talking directly with reporters on behalf of campaigns or other organizations
● Experience managing social media accounts and generating engaging content
● Exceptional oral and written communication skills
● Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
● Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
● The position will be based in western Montana, with a strong preference for applicants who can
relocate to Missoula. Must have reliable transportation and a computer.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Generate earned media coverage of the candidate's message through proactive planning and
rapid response;
● Write press releases, statements, media advisories, talking points, columns and remarks
● Manage all campaign social media accounts; including TikTok, twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
● Design campaign graphics
● Field and respond to media inquiries and oversee comprehensive media tracking program
● Travel with the candidate to media events as needed
● Work closely with the campaign team to build a consistent messaging calendar and align
messaging and strategy
● Track all relevant events and communication opportunities in the district.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
● Salary: $5,500 - $7,000 or commensurate with experience
● Benefits: Healthcare stipend available
