Job Description

The Cartwright for Congress campaign is looking for a passionate Press Secretary / Communications Director to join our team in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District. Rep. Cartwright won his last race by just 2.4% and is one of just five Democrats in a district that Donald Trump won in 2020. **This is one of the top races in the country; the path to the House majority runs through PA-08.**

RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Develop and execute all aspects of a comprehensive, long-term communications plan, utilizing print, digital, radio, TV, events, and social media to generate earned media coverage.
● Write and edit all press releases, statements, media advisories, talking points, and op-eds.
● Manage all campaign social media accounts.
● Build a consistent messaging calendar, including relevant events across the district.
● Serve as the on-the-record spokesperson for the campaign.
● Field and help respond to all press inquiries for the campaign.
● Travel with the candidate to press events as needed.
● Plan and implement local, state, and national press strategies that reflect the campaign’s priorities, including pitching stories.
● Advise the candidate and campaign on communications and messaging strategy.
● Prepare and staff the candidate for interviews, press conferences, and events, as needed.
● Maintain strong relationships with local, state, and national press.
