Job Description

For over thirty years as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and judge, Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke (Ret.) has spent her career committed to seeking justice for the people of Cook County. Now, she’s running for Cook County State’s Attorney to use her expertise to rebuild trust between communities, law enforcement agencies, and public officials.

Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke won the Democratic primary for Cook County State's Attorney and is gearing up for the November election. Her campaign is seeking interns with a strong interest in gaining experience on a high-profile campaign for an extraordinarily qualified female former Judge, Defense Attorney, and Prosecutor running in a high-profile election.

Internship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Event preparation and outreach
- Talking to voters across Cook County
- Staffing in-person events with principal
- Staffing in-person events solo/with volunteers
- Completing other responsibilities as assigned

Interns are asked to commit 10-15 hours per week, and this program will require some weekend availability. Summer internship dates are flexible with opportunities to extend through the fall in preparation for the November general election. Positions are limited so please apply quickly.

Interns will work directly with the campaign team and often Judge Eileen O’Neill Burke herself. As such, interns are held key expectations of discretion and performance. Interns will also gain diverse exposure that provides them insight to the Cook County Justice system as well as high profile political campaigns in Chicago. The Justice Eileen O’Neill Burke for State's Attorney campaign understands that your schedule may everyone’s availability is different and will work to accommodate all varieties of schedules.
