Job Description

# **Position Summary**
- **Position: **Organizing Manager
- **Reports to:** Regional Organizing Director
- **Location: **Hybrid
- **Salary Range: **$60,000 - $65,000
- **Benefits: **We offer a robust benefits package which includes: medical, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to the employee; 401k plan after 3 months; and unlimited PTO (+ quarterly org-wide week long breaks).

- **End Date: **December 31st, 2024

The Rural Arizona Engagement and Rural Arizona Action (RAZE/A) Organizing Manager will drive an ambitious organizing program in an effort to build local leadership and seek policy change at various levels. The individual in this position will be instrumental in the management of volunteer teams and building an engaging organizing capacity in their region.

# **Responsibilities**
## **Campaign planning and strategy implementation**
- Implement and be held accountable to metrics-driven Organizing Program that intentionally organizes rural communities to further the mission and strategies of RAZE/A
- Recruit, train, and manage lead volunteers to build RAZE/A’s organizing capacity, including voter contact
- Evaluate goal progress and provide regular updates and reports to the Deputy Organizing Director
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to campaign and organizing activities in order to meet goals and maximize effectiveness.
- Participate in regular team meetings

## **Management of Organizers**
- Recruit, train, and manage teams of volunteers and leads, helping them to organize in their neighborhoods and rural communities
- Provide operational support to volunteers and leads such as cutting turf and creating phonebanks for voter contact and volunteer recruitment
- Provide training to organizing teams on topics including: outreach and retention, leadership development, field outreach and varied member engagement tactics, campaign planning and strategic communications
- Debrief volunteers and leads after each shift to reinforce highlights and address any challenges
- Monitor and support volunteers and leads during organizing activities providing updates, reminders, encouragement, and constructive feedback
- Support volunteer leads with recruiting, training, and managing volunteers

## **Collaboration**
- Ensure all communication follows established chain of command processes
- Work closely with the Deputy Organizing Director and Campaigns Director to develop and implement specific organizing programs
- Working collaboratively with all departments to improve upon the organizing model

## **Community Alliances**
- Build relationships and increase the visibility of RAZE/A within local communities
- Identify local and state partners to support the growth of RAZE/A and rural communities
- Attend events with community organizations and local elected leaders who align with the mission and vision of RAZE/A
- Represent RAZE/A with excellence in industry-group conferences, professional associations, public venues, and events.

# **Qualifications**
## **Must Haves:**
- **Education & Experience:**
- Experience on statewide or competitive electoral campaigns with demonstrated experience of leading and/or managing a successful field team for a minimum of two cycles
- Experience in community, labor, or grassroots organizing
- **Highly Organized and Self Motivated:**
- Commitment and passion for social, racial and gender justice
- Comfortable with implementation of a range of organizing strategies and tactics
- Self-motivated, with a proven ability to work independently
- Ability to be a team player and work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying and shifting deadlines
- **Training and Communication:**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate, train, and work with diverse staff in an engaging and understanding way.
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people and move them to action in both live and virtual settings
- **Technologically Savvy: **
- Comfortable with using, administering, and training on various technologies and tools.
- Ability to learn how to use new technologies and tools in a self-directed way.
- **Commitment to Social Justice & Racial Equity: **
- Recognizes the role of race, gender, and other identities in shaping health disparities, is driven to improve conditions, and proactively learns re: race, equity, and identity.

- **Adaptable and Available:**
- Be willing and able to work flexible hours based on organizational needs including nights and weekends
- Must have access to a cell phone, laptop, reliable internet, and vehicle with a valid Driver’s License.
- Be willing and able to travel in region, as well as occasional out-of-state travel
- Capacity and desire to work in rapidly changing and fast-paced campaign settings

## **Nice to Haves:**
- Knowledge and experience in c3/c4 organizations including regulations and compliance
- An existing network of people and organizations in Arizona–especially within rural Arizona.
- Bilingual English and Spanish proficiency
- Commitment to electing progressive candidates up and down the ballot.
