Job Description

Georgia Youth Justice Coalition seeks a full-time **Advocacy and Training Manager** ​to assist in ensuring young Georgians understand and leverage organizing best practices and in supporting our issue campaign goals in both the electoral and legislative space.

Georgia Youth Justice Coalition is a youth-led nonprofit that cultivates youth leadership in democracy. Our work to engage communities, activate youth, and promote civic education empowers young Georgians as changemakers within their communities. Founded as a grassroots youth organization in 2021, Georgia Youth Justice Coalition now maintains an organizing presence in 12 counties and 18 college campuses. **About the Position**
As the Advocacy and Training Manager, you will work directly with the Deputy Executive Director of Organizing and Training, youth staff, and youth volunteers to ensure that our collective work translates to policy wins and electoral impact for young Georgians across the state. The ideal candidate for the role is a process person who understands the impact of consistently implementing best practices with a passion for policy change and power building. They are a patient teacher, bridge builder, and a lifelong learner.

**Advocacy Responsibilities**
- Ensure the success of our organizing campaigns to advance GYJC’s Young People’s Platform and the issues important to young Georgians at the ballot box
- Empower young Georgians to make informed electoral choices through consistent base engagement and the development of materials that increase accessibility
- Recruit and support young Georgians in attending Board of Education meetings and participating in the legislative process at the local and state level
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with organizational partners, elected officials, university professors, and public school teachers in diverse communities

**Training Responsibilities**
- Train young Georgians on best practices in direct voter contact and issue advocacy
- Develop onboarding materials, one-pagers, guides, and toolkits to support young Georgians in taking regular action in the electoral and legislative process
- Regularly work with student staff to launch canvasses, table on college campuses, make phone calls, and build relationships with our membership base
- Maintain strong data integrity throughout our electoral and legislative work

**Core Team Member Responsibilities**
- Ensure the Deputy Executive Director is up-to-date on internal needs and escalate issues as they arise, acting with discretion and handling information with care.
- Train youth staff on best practices, core competencies, and hard skills to empower young Georgians to take ownership of the work and achieve organizational goals.
- Foster and maintain a positive, productive team culture.

**Qualifications**
- Culturally competent in building and maintaining relationships across lines of difference such as race, age, class, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and flexibility with a willingness to meet and exceed goals, implement feedback, and problem-solve effectively.
- Strong commitment to progressive values and to do the work that needs to be done
- Some volunteer or internship experience with organizing or advocacy is preferred.
- Effective communicator across verbal, interpersonal, and written communication.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- Self-starter who is intrinsically motivated and able to work independently
- Have a driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Working at the Georgia Youth Justice Coalition**
This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to the Deputy Executive Director of Organizing and Training. Car travel within the state of Georgia will be required 30-35% for general execution of the role. We offer a generous benefits package that includes unlimited PTO; professional development stipend; and insurance plans for health, dental, and vision. This role is remote, but applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Georgia.

**Salary:** $42,000 - $49,000 based on experience
