Job Description
**Summary: **In 2023, Ohio became the nation’s foremost battleground for protecting abortion rights – winning a ballot initiative fight that gave hope to Democrats across the country. In 2024, Ohio will be the center of the battle for control of the U.S. Senate. Ohio must re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown, a champion for workers and the deciding vote on critical legislation. This year will also offer the chance to take control of the Ohio Supreme Court, make gains in the state legislature, and defend three battleground congressional seats.
**Field Organizers will be the Ohio Democratic Party’s on-the-ground messengers. They will use a variety of tactics to persuade and mobilize voters, recruit volunteers, and engage and mobilize communities across Ohio.** Field Organizers will have the opportunity to build teams across the state to have the voter-to-voter conversations we need in order to win! This is an entry level role – applicants who are passionate about electing Democrats up and down the ballot are the exact folks we need on our team. This position is full time, in-person, based in specific areas throughout the state of Ohio, and will report to an assigned Regional Organizing Director.
**Key Responsibilities & Expectations:**
- Engage in direct voter contact by knocking on doors, making phone calls, and registering voters
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer leaders to conduct direct voter contact and execute a large-scale Get-Out-The-Vote effort, including coordinating large volunteer events
- Plan for and use a number of tactics to hit daily and weekly metric goals for voter contact and volunteer engagement
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Organizing Director, Deputy Organizing Director, or Regional Organizing Director. _Travel will be required within the assigned region to meet with volunteers and voters and/or transfer supplies, and FOs will receive a monthly travel stipend to help cover these costs._
**Preferred Skills & Qualifications:**
- Experience volunteering or organizing in a particular community of Ohio is encouraged but not required; folks from service work backgrounds are also strongly encouraged to apply!
- Ready to adapt and be flexible during the campaign to meet team goals and objectives
- Willing and able to work in person in the field office and in the community you are assigned
- Must have access to a cell phone, laptop, and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work in-person in the assigned region in Ohio
- Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Ohio
