Job Description
Dr. Kristin Lyerly’s campaign for Wisconsin’s Eighth Congressional District is seeking a Field Director. This position will report to the Campaign Manager, and will oversee all Field Operations. A strong candidate will have the skills and knowledge to develop and execute a comprehensive field program aimed at getting out the votes necessary for Dr. Lyerly’s candidacy to be successful in 2024.
Northeast Wisconsin is slated to be one of the focal points in one of the most pivotal swing states this cycle, already seeing visits from several Presidential surrogates, and increased attention from Senate candidates. With the addition of new state legislative maps, Wisconsin is also expecting an especially large turnout this year due to excitement from down-ballot races. This being said, this role will benefit from a collaborative mindset, as we engage with candidates and campaigns at all levels.
The preferred candidate will have the soft skills to complement their technical know-how, a strategic mind, and the ability to lead and inspire a diverse group of stakeholders, organizers and volunteers. _Relocation to the Green Bay area is required for this role. _
**About the Campaign:**
Dr. Kristin Lyerly is the Democratic candidate for WI-08, the only open seat in Wisconsin. As a practicing OB/GYN, after the fall of Roe v. Wade, she fought against Wisconsin’s 1849 criminal abortion ban - and won. Now, after the surprise, early retirement of Congressman Mike Gallagher, she is running to fill the vacated seat, with a special election in November to fill out the remainder of the term. Dr. Lyerly has already raised over $750,000 in the ten weeks since entering the race, and has received major endorsements, from Senator Tammy Baldwin to 314 Action and Reproductive Freedom for All. Wisconsin is one of the most crucial swing states in the country and, with new state-level maps and unprecedented engagement, high turnout rates are expected.
**Responsibilities include:**
- Assisting in the hiring and placement of field organizers throughout the district;
- Training and supervising field staff throughout the campaign cycle, while implementing clear benchmarks and accountability measures;
- Design and implement field, voter contact, and training programs;
- Coordinating with field directors of other campaigns;
- Preparing weekly reports for Campaign Manager;
- Leading internal communications with field staff and volunteers;
**Required Skills and Experience:**
- Basic Understanding of targeting and organizing metrics;
- Staff management and training skills;
- One cycle of field/organizing experience or comparable political or advocacy experience;
- Proficiency in VAN, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Docs;
- Must be a strong leader able to inspire and motivate candidate and staff;
- Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers;
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence - the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways;
- A personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability;
- Reliable transportation is required for frequent travel up and down district;
- Ties to Wisconsin are preferred but not required
