Job Description

The Democratic Party of Illinois (DPI) is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the position of Voter Protection Manager. The Voter Protection Managerwill help manage the 2024 General Election statewide voter protection program that will protect and encourage voter participation. This position will report directly to the Coordinated Director.
**About the Democratic Party of Illinois**
In the 2024 election cycle, the DPI will protect and elect Democrats up and down the ballot, while building the most active and inclusive party our state has ever seen. Our work is year-round, and our programs will focus on welcoming Illinois Democrats home to a party relentlessly focused on electing those who champion our causes and our communities.
**What Will You Do?**
The Voter Protection Manager will play a crucial role in managing and developing a comprehensive statewide voter protection program for the 2024 General Election in Illinois. This individual will work closely with internal staff, volunteers, community organizations, and legal partners to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and protect voters' rights.
Responsibilities include:
- **Program Development:** Collaborate with the Coordinated Director and DPI staff to implement the strategic plan for the voter protection program, including identifying key areas of focus and establishing protocols for response and escalation.
- **Voter Protection Hotline: **Lead in the recruitment of and management of Voter Protection Hotline volunteers. Assist in monitoring the Voter Protection Hotline to answer voters’ questions through the Voter Protection Hotline and help manage the hotline software.
- **Training and Education:** Organize and conduct training sessions for staff, volunteers, poll workers, and community partners on voter protection tools, laws, procedures, and best practices.
- **Monitoring and Response:** Monitor elections activities and voter suppression efforts statewide, and assist DPI Counsel with coordinating rapid response efforts to address issues as they arise, including legal challenges, voter intimidation, and misinformation campaigns.
- **Voter Outreach:** Collaborate with community organizations, advocacy groups, and elected officials to conduct outreach and education campaigns aimed at informing voters about their rights and resources available to them.
- **Data Analysis:** Collect and analyze data related to voter protection efforts, including incident reports, voter turnout, and demographic information, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- **Documentation and Reporting:** Maintain accurate records of voter protection activities, incidents, and outcomes, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.

**Who Are You?**
The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn more about Voter Protection and have a passion for expanding voting rights and combating voter suppression. Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent written/oral communication skills and be able to work independently.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, community partners, and legal professionals.
- Commitment to democratic values and the principles of democracy, with a passion for promoting voter participation and protecting voting rights for all.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience working with attorneys and legal issues preferred, but not required.
- Experience with VAN/Votebuilder, Telzio, LBJ (Lawyers Bound for Justice) and Google Suite preferred, but not required.
**Job Details**
Applicants must live in or be willing to relocate to Illinois. Applicants must have the ability to travel throughout the state for up to several days at a time and must have a valid driver’s license. Position is mostly virtual, however in-person work would be based out of the Chicago or Springfield DPI offices.
This program will last approximately four months with a start date beginning early August and an end date of November 30, 2024.
The salary for this role is $55,000 – $60,000 and is commensurate with experience.
