Summary: In 2024, Ohio is a frontline battleground state with competitive races up and down the ballot. Ohio must re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown in what will be the nation’s top targeted race in 2024, determining the control of the US Senate. This year will also offer the chance to take control of the Ohio Supreme Court, make gains in the state legislature, and defend three battleground congressional seats. The ODP Coordinated Campaign Voter Access team will be fundamental to the success of Democratic campaigns at every level, by supporting an innovative, data-driven statewide plan to address the various barriers to casting a ballot in Ohio.
The Regional Voter Access Director will provide primary support to the Election Administration program for the Voter Access Team. The Election Admin program will focus on building relationships with Ohio elections officials, to troubleshoot and problem-solve voting issues that Ohioans may face. This person will also work within the Voter Access Team to build a strong pipeline of volunteer support for critical voter access programs. Applicants new to voter access work, passionate about protecting voting rights in the Buckeye state, and electing Democrats up and down the ballot are a great fit for this team. This position is full-time and based in Columbus, Ohio.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
● Work with the Deputy Voter Access Director to support the needs of the Election Administration Outreach and Engagement
● Build and maintain relationships with County election officials, party leaders, and partner organizations
● Help map strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities across Ohio focused on Democratic BOE members, BOE staff, and County Party activities
● Help create voter education resources and facilitate trainings for Ohio Coordinated campaign staff, volunteers, and voters
● Assist with the recruitment, training, and management of voter access volunteers and volunteer leaders who will provide support to the Election Admin County Liasion program, Voter Access Hotline, Early Vote and Election Day Poll Observation, and other needs
● Support internal and external communication around Voter Access in Ohio
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
● At least 1 cycle of experience in campaign organizing, political, or voter access preferred
● Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
● Eager to learn and able to communicate effectively with multiple audiences
● Ready to adapt and be flexible during the campaign to meet team goals and objectives
● Committed to the values and practices of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace with the ability to take feedback and learn
● Proficiency in MS Excel or Google Sheets, Votebuilder, and LBJ experience is a plus, but not required
● Commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ticket in Ohio

The Regional Voter Access Director reports to a designated Deputy Voter Access Director and is represented by IBEW Local 1466. This position is salaried between $5,000-5,500 per month and provides full benefits including PTO as needed, health, dental, voluntary vision insurance, and a monthly $50 cell phone stipend. This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle. Housing will not be provided.
