Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing regular voter contact and volunteer recruitment events in coordination with the Organizing Director

  • Cultivating volunteers and providing them with ongoing training

  • Meeting weekly voter contact goals on doors and phones

  • Meeting daily reporting and data entry deadlines

  • Developing relationships with political stakeholders, allied organizations, and local Democratic committees

  • Other duties as assigned by the Organizing Director

Qualifications

  • No campaign experience necessary, however at least one (1) cycle of relevant experience in community/field organizing, base building or direct service is preferred.

  • Experience in political/advocacy/campaign organizing, with experience working directly with volunteers and/or community members strongly preferred.

  • Experience with facilitation, training/leading workshops is preferred.

  • Individuals who want to work in Kentucky politics.

  • Proficiency with technology or a willingness to learn.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Superb organization skills; detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Creative, results-oriented, self-starting, and willing to learn.

  • Strong task and time management skills.

  • Ability to travel around the County as necessary and participate in evening and weekend meetings and/or events.

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of UNITE KENTUCKY. Strong commitment to and understanding of equity and inclusion work with a history of engaging diverse communities. Must have the ability to engage individuals of all races, nationalities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, income levels, ages, physical abilities, educational, occupational and political backgrounds and those with histories of trauma.

  • Empathy, respect, and value for the role of personal storytelling in advocacy and organizing work
