Title: Election Research and Experimentation Intern

**Location: **Flexible (the intern may decide whether to work remotely and/or from an LCVEF office)

**Duration: **12 Weeks – Expected January 27 – April 18, 2025 (start and end dates flexible)

**Schedule and Compensation: **40 hours per week; $17.50 per hour

General Description:

The League of Conservation Voters Education Fund believes our earth is worth mobilizing for because everyone has a right to clean air, water, and a safe, healthy community. LCV Education Fund (LCVEF) works to turn environmental values into national, state and local priorities. LCVEF’s work to protect and advocate for the environment is rooted in our commitment to racial, social and environmental justice.

Democracy for All is one of the largest and most dynamic civic engagement programs in the nation and the largest program within the environmental movement. As a program of LCVEF, we operate in partnership with 30 state affiliates in the Conservation Voter Movement, which gives Democracy For All substantial capacity and geographic reach. Over the last four election cycles, we have established a track record of running highly effective, research-based nonpartisan voter registration programs that are rooted in racial justice and work in collaboration with the communities most impacted by environmental degradation. Since our first program in 2012, we have helped over a million individuals register to vote. LCVEF and many state league partners have also prioritized increasing our efforts to protect and promote voting rights. These issues are central to the success of environmental priorities, and are, therefore, central to the success of the Conservation Voter Movement.

LCVEF is seeking an Election Research and Experimentation Intern who will support the Director of Civic Engagement. The intern will support research on the election landscape for odd-year elections in preparation for summer and fall operations. Their primary focus will be analyzing upcoming executive and legislative elections, as well as researching off-cycle school board elections. Special projects include research to help identify key civic engagement trends, opportunities, and challenges for the organization’s nonpartisan field and engagement operations. The intern will also assist in compiling and presenting findings that can inform strategies and planning for future nonpartisan civic engagement efforts. The Election Research and Experimentation Intern will join a Spring 2025 internship cohort that will have access to development opportunities including a Capstone project, informational interviews with staff, and organization-wide training and discussions.

Intern Will Gain Experience in:

• Conducting research on odd-year elections, including executive, legislative, and school board elections held off-cycle.

• Identifying key trends in voter turnout, nonpartisan civic engagement efforts, and electoral patterns.

• Tracking important deadlines, candidate filings, and legislative developments related to these elections.

• Analyzing nonpartisan civic engagement opportunities in target states and localities.

• Providing data and insights to inform planning for nonpartisan voter outreach and engagement initiatives.

• Collaborating with team members to support the development of nonpartisan civic engagement strategies based on research findings.

• Identifying and assessing potential local partners, organizations, and communities to support nonpartisan civic engagement work.

• Assisting in mapping key stakeholders involved in off-cycle elections and related engagement efforts.

• Compiling and organizing research findings into clear, actionable reports for team members and leadership.

• Assisting in preparing presentations or briefings on research findings for internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensuring that research and nonpartisan civic engagement efforts are grounded in a racial justice framework by analyzing how different elections and engagement opportunities impact communities of color.

• Identifying disparities in nonpartisan civic engagement and voter turnout, with a focus on historically marginalized communities.

• Assisting in developing strategies to enhance participation and leadership of underrepresented groups in nonpartisan civic engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

• **Skills: **Highly organized; strong attention to detail; excellent written and oral communications skills; exhibits solid judgment; strong research, critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to gather, synthesize, and present data on elections, civic engagement, and policy trends; able to work independently and as a team; able to handle multiple tasks; self-starter; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
