Project Overview:
RepresentUs is looking for an experienced Research Contractor with a track record in political and campaign finance research to remotely support Phase 1 of a multi-year project to pass non-partisan redistricting through ballot measures or legislative action in time for the next round of redistricting. Phase 1 is predominantly a scoping effort to identify target states for anti-gerrymandering efforts based on impact, viability, risk and resiliency, financial cost, in-state partnerships, and infrastructure.
Project Goals:

Identify influential organizations and individuals–ideally 3-5–and schedule calls to make initial contacts in target states.

Examine campaign finance data to identify individuals and organizations to contact and also to estimate potential initiative costs based on the cost of prior campaigns.

Identify the top twenty major donors to redistricting initiatives nationwide.

Identify and interpret polling and demographic data to assess initiative viability.
-
Assist with finalizing a list of target states.

Periodic check-ins with political team members, contributing to the generation of a final project report.
Scope of Work:
The Research Contractor is responsible for conducting and compiling research, identifying potential in-state partners and initiating contact, and assessing possible campaign costs. The Research Contractor will work with the political and policy teams at RepresentUs to compile the data and research needed to make target state recommendations and contribute to a final report. The Research Contractor may be asked to draft some sections of the final report.

Experience contributing to whitepapers and reports through research, writing, and editing

Knowledge of the nonprofit advocacy space and experience researching advocacy organizations

Conducting research into campaign finances and contributions, including locating and analyzing campaign reports and filings, and identifying donors

Analyzing polling and demographic data
-
Entities with LLC or incorporated status are preferred.

Role Length:
Needs to be completed between November 2024 and the end of January 2025.
There will be no work performed December 23, 2024 - January 2, 2025.
