JOB DESCRIPTION
New Hampshire Youth Movement is looking for a Community and Legislative Organizer to support the cultivation of growth and New Hampshire Youth Movement's youth/student membership and our statewide campaigns to win affordable housing, LGBTQ+ protections, and elect champions of these issues to office. This full-time role is an opportunity to level up your existing organizing and campaign skills, mentor passionate youth and student organizers, build relationships with and elect progressive champions, and win tangible policy change.

New Hampshire Youth Movement is a movement of young people transforming our political system so it serves, and is led by, the people it’s left behind. We are an intersectional, grassroots organization building and leveraging youth power in and outside of electoral organizing across NH.
What you’ll do
-
Work closely with student and youth staff to grow hubs of young people working to make change on their campus or in their community.

Support statewide issue campaigns around LGBTQ+ rights, affordable housing, and a number of other issue areas of importance to young people.

Assist with day to day support of our social media and communications team

Campaign to elect local progressive candidates to office in the 2025 municipal elections

Support statewide field organizing work through phonebanks, relational organizing, and door knocking

Who you are
The ideal candidate is or has some combination of:
-
Past experience in community organizing, student organizing, or electoral organizing, either as a paid staff or a volunteer leader
-
Ability to problem solve and be flexible in a sometimes fast-paced work environment.

Self-motivated and not requiring significant direct supervision
-
Excited to manage and mentor part-time organizers and volunteer leaders building hubs in their communities
-
Passionate about building the political power of young people and making a difference in a variety of issue areas, including affordable housing and LGBTQ rights.

Friendly and outgoing; ready to meet new people and bring them into the work
-
Understanding or willing to learn about their stake in politics, and interested in learning what is at stake for others

Strong commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside the organization
Desired Skills, Attitudes, and Experiences
It would be nice if you had:
-
Experience with organizing tools (EveryAction, VAN, Spoke, HubDialer, etc.)
-
Experience with digital organizing/social media/writing
-
Experience using social media or digital tools to connect and organize people
-
Experience planning and managing organizing campaigns, including electoral programs
-
Experience managing staff organizers or fellows
-
Experience planning direct actions and events
-
Ability to travel around the state regularly
Compensation and Commitment
This position is ** full-time, salaried at $50,000 for 40 hours/week on average** and paid bi-weekly. NHYM offers health, dental, and vision insurance and reimburses for mileage from travel. Additional insurance benefits include life insurance and short & long-term disability insurance. Additionally you receive 3 weeks of vacation time per year, 2 weeks of sick/personal time, and 17 organization wide holidays.
This role starts between the last week of November 2024 and the first week of January 2025. This role will require working some evenings, some weekends, and travel across the state. This role could be seasonal or a long-term hire depending on the candidate. The ideal candidate lives in, or is willing to move to, New Hampshire.
