JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary: The Political Assistant provides crucial support to the campaign’s policy and political operations. Reporting to the Political Director, this role will conduct research, draft materials, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the campaign’s policy positions are well-developed and effectively communicated. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for political strategy and public policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Research and Political Support

Conduct rapid-response research on policy issues relevant to the campaign’s platform.

Monitor local, state, and national policy developments and provide timely updates.

Assist in drafting policy briefs, memos, questionnaire responses and talking points for the candidate and campaign staff.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Support coordination with advocacy groups, elected officials, and community organizations to gather insights and feedback on policy proposals.

Attend meetings, forums, and events to represent the campaign and report on key takeaways.

Maintain and update contact lists for key policy and political stakeholders.
Communication Support:

Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistency in messaging related to policy positions.

Draft policy briefs in line with the candidates messaging priorites

Help prepare the candidate for debates, interviews, and public appearances by drafting briefing materials and FAQs.

Proofread and edit policy-related content for accuracy and clarity.
Administrative Duties:

Maintain organized records of research, stakeholder communications, and policy documents.

Schedule and coordinate meetings for the policy and political teams.

Provide general administrative support as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
Experience:
-
1-3 years of experience in policy analysis, political campaigns, or related fields.

Familiarity with New York City’s political landscape and policy issues is required.
Skills:

Strong research and analytical abilities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and research tools.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines.
