Position Summary:
The Organizing Director is a pivotal leadership role responsible for developing and executing grassroots organizing strategies to elect Brad Lander Mayor of New York City. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, this individual is a member of the Campaign’s Senior Leadership Team and will oversee field operations including petitioning for ballot access, build robust community-based organizing structures, and empower a network of volunteers, staff, and partners to execute campaign goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a passion for mobilizing communities and a proven track record of leadership in campaign field and distributive organizing efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Leadership:

Develop and implement a comprehensive organizing plan to win the 2025 Mayoral primary.

Collaborate with senior leadership to align organizing efforts with overall campaign goals.

Set measurable goals for petitions gathered, volunteers recruited, voters contacted and more.
Program Development and Execution:

Design and lead voter contact program for the campaign, including voter outreach, petition-gathering, volunteer management, and coalition-building.

Oversee the development and implementation of organizing tools, materials, and resources.

Manage the execution of grassroots voter contact including canvassing, phone banking, and text banking.

Craft a relational volunteer program including the tools, strategies, and metrics.
Team Management and Development:

Recruit, train, and manage a team of organizers, field staff, and volunteers.

Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that values diverse perspectives.

Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement:

In partnership with the Political Director, build and maintain relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and partner organizations.

Represent the organization at public events, forums, and meetings.

Identify and support emerging leaders within the campaign ecosystem.
Data and Technology Management:

Utilize data-driven strategies to optimize organizing efforts.

Oversee the use of organizing technology, including Mobilize, CRM systems, and voter databases.

Analyze campaign metrics to measure success.
Advocacy and Policy Support:

Work with political, policy, and communications teams to amplify grassroots voices in our policy priorities and agenda.

Mobilize communities around key policy priorities and campaign milestones.
Qualifications:
Experience:
-
At least 5-7 years of experience in electoral organizing, campaigns, volunteer management, grassroots campaigning, or advocacy work.

Proven ability to manage teams and execute large-scale campaigns.
Skills:

Strong leadership and team-building skills.

Ability to draft and execute a field plan and volunteer engagement plan.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in data analysis and organizing software (e.g., VAN, NGP, Reach, or similar tools).

Strategic thinking with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Working Conditions:

Frequent travel to communities and events.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by campaign schedules.
Compensation:
Salary is $7500-$9000/month, commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
