About the Campaign:

Team Solomon is a coalition of nine progressive candidates running to transform Jersey City’s government and deliver meaningful, community-driven change. Aligned with mayoral candidate and Ward E Councilman James Solomon, the slate is committed to safer streets, responsible development, and transparent governance. For too long, real estate developers and entrenched machine politicians have prioritized profits over people. Team Solomon is running to change that.

Joining Team Solomon means being part of a movement to build a Jersey City government that works for its residents, not special interests.

About the Role:

The Slate Director will play a central role in managing and coordinating the efforts of Team Solomon’s nine council candidates across Jersey City’s six wards. This position requires a proactive, strategic leader overseeing campaign operations, field metrics, and finance programs while fostering collaboration among candidates and their teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing field strategies, tracking campaign performance, and engaging diverse communities to meet ambitious electoral goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Staff Management: Oversee six part-time council campaign managers to ensure coordinated progress across all campaigns.

  • Field Strategy & Metrics: Draft and implement a comprehensive field plan for Team Solomon to deliver strategic vote margins. Create tracking systems to monitor ward-level field and finance progress.

  • Finance Program Oversight: Assist with call time staffing and develop structured finance programs for council candidates to meet fundraising goals.

  • Political Engagement: Collaborate with the Team Solomon Manager to develop a six-ward political plan that effectively engages Jersey City’s diverse communities.

  • Data-Driven Reporting: Develop and manage metrics and tracking documents to ensure campaigns remain on target and responsive to real-time performance data.

Qualifications

  • A highly organized individual who is laser-focused on getting results.

  • Minimum 1-2 campaign cycles of experience in a field or political role.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff and volunteers in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven experience in drafting and executing field strategies and tracking progress to meet ambitious goals.

  • Proficiency in Votebuilder, Google Sheets, and related campaign tools.

  • Strong understanding of modern field campaign tactics and metrics-driven approaches.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing political dynamics and manage competing priorities.

  • Comfortable working with and engaging diverse communities across Jersey City.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of urban political environments and dynamics.

  • Familiarity with NGP and campaign fundraising systems.
