JOB DESCRIPTION
Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey is seeking field staff to support his re-election campaign. In the first 3 years of his term, he has focused on the vision of making Pittsburgh the safest, most welcoming, and most thriving City in America. His administration has prioritized rebuilding the City’s capacity to deliver basic services, reestablishing trust between residents and the City’s Public Safety Bureaus, expanding affordable housing options, and creating new economic opportunities for residents and communities that have been left behind.
The field team will be Mayor Gainey’s on-the-ground messengers. They will use a variety of tactics to persuade and mobilize voters, recruit volunteers, and engage and mobilize communities all over Pittsburgh. The field team will work throughout Pittsburgh to have the voter-to-voter conversations we need in order to win! All field positions are full time, in-person, based in Pittsburgh.
Field Organizer
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

Get Mayor Gainey on the ballot by collecting petition signatures during the ballot petitioning period

Engage in direct voter contact by knocking on doors, making phone calls, and registering voters

Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and volunteer leaders to conduct direct voter contact and execute a large-scale Get-Out-The-Vote effort

Plan for and use a number of tactics to hit daily and weekly metric goals for voter contact and volunteer engagement

Other responsibilities as assigned by the Field Director
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

Experience volunteering or organizing on a political campaign is encouraged but not required

Ready to adapt and be flexible during the campaign to meet team goals and objectives

Willing and able to work in person in the field office and in the community
-
Willing and able to have conversations with voters in person at the doors and over the phone

Must have access to a cell phone, laptop, and reliable transportation

Must be able to work in-person in Pittsburgh

Connection to Pittsburgh preferred

This is a full-time position and runs until May 20th, 2025. Field Organizers report to the Field Director and work in-person in Pittsburgh. Schedule and hours will fluctuate with campaign needs but organizers should expect to begin the campaign working 55-60 hours per week with hour escalations in May. Hours will include evenings and weekends. Field Organizers will be paid $5000/month and will receive a healthcare and mileage stipend. The campaign will not provide housing.
