Blake Gendebien is a husband, father of three boys, second-generation dairy farmer, small business owner, and Vice Chair of the Cooperative Board of Agri-Mark. He was born and raised on a farm in the North Country and he’s been deeply rooted in this community his whole life – as a JV basketball coach, Lisbon Central School Board Member, and founder of a non-profit supporting kids with pediatric cancer and their families.

Job Description

Organizers will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteer relationships, executing in voter contact, and representing the campaign in their assigned communities. Organizers will report to the Deputy Organizing Director and Organizing Director to manage grassroots campaign operations in their turf. This position is full-time in-person, based in an assigned region of New York’s 21st Congressional District and requires regular travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position. No experience necessary, but local applicants or those with experience organizing during the 2024 cycle will be given priority.

Roles and responsibilities include:

● Work to elect Blake Gendebien in a special election by knocking on doors, recruiting volunteers, and attending community events in assigned region

● Recruit, manage, and train volunteers to participate in direct voter contact; including but not limited to door-to-door canvassing, volunteer recruitment calls, phone banking, and relational organizing

● Implement strategies to meet daily and weekly organizing metrics, adhere to team data standards, and ensure accurate data collection for all voter-contact activity

● Support volunteers by providing regular 1:1 meetings, trainings, and local campaign meetings

● Build relationships with local activists, stakeholders, and organizations across your assigned area

● Develop volunteer leadership teams to prepare for a robust Get Out the Vote effort

● Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative team culture that values diverse perspectives;

● Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

● Strong interpersonal skills, and desire to organize for Blake Gendebien during a unique special election

● Strong communication skills - must be able to speak with and persuade all kinds of voters

● Excellent organizational and time management skills

● Drive to hit and exceed ambitious metric goals, and ability to take feedback from managers

● Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed, including to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

● Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and a willingness to problem-solve effectively

● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours
