Job Title: Program Manager

Summary:**** State Futures envisions a nation where values-aligned state policymakers collaborate to advance bold policies, strengthen democracy, and improve lives. We build state capacity by convening policymaker cohorts to counter harmful state and federal policies, coordinate multi-state action, and implement transformative solutions in health care, reproductive justice, climate, labor, consumer protection, and democracy. Additionally, we support peer-led mentorship and governance programs that empower state leaders—especially women and policymakers of color—to govern boldly and drive lasting change.

Position Overview:**** The Program Manager (“Manager”) is a critical team member and supports the execution of the day-to-day work of key State Futures (“SF”) programs. The Manager provides administrative, programmatic, and strategic planning support to SF programs and operations. The Manager supports the three functional departments at SF: Operations, Policy, and State Leadership.

This position reports to the ** Director of State Leadership (“Director”).**

Responsibilities:

  1. ** State Leadership (55%)**
  • Help develop, initiate, and implement plans to provide cohorts and network-wide governance and leadership development programming to create space for connection, learning, and collaboration.

  • Build relationships and help manage communication and coordination with stakeholders, including elected policymakers and staff.

  • Assist in the planning, execution, facilitation, and evaluation of program activities, including meetings (virtual and/or in person), outreach activities, and webinars.

  • Track program deliverables and timelines to ensure that goals are being met.

  1. ** Policy (20%)**
  • Provide research support for team members providing technical assistance, training, and strategic guidance to stakeholders.

  • Assist in responding to information requests from policymakers and partner organizations.

  • Monitor policy developments and maintain a system for tracking relevant legislation and regulations.

  • Help manage communication and coordination with stakeholders.

  • Track program deliverables and timelines to ensure that goals are being met.

  1. ** Operations (20%)**
  • Assist in the development, collection, and analysis of metrics related to program outcomes.

  • Support the preparation of program reports and presentations for internal and external audiences, including funders and stakeholders.

  • Assist in preparing materials, newsletters, and social media content to promote program activities.

  • Provide general administrative support to the team, including scheduling, preparing materials, and collecting and maintaining files.

  1. ** General Activities (5%)**
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential partners in the values-aligned policy and leadership ecosystem who can be programmatic collaborators.

  • Provide assistance in preparing grant applications and materials for funders, including assisting in grant applications and status reports related to relevant programs.

  • Perform other duties as requested by the President.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years of full-time experience in policy advocacy, government relations, or a similar field, with a proven track record of success in influencing policy and legislative outcomes.

  • Experience with meeting facilitation (virtual and/or in person), stakeholder engagement, and community-building with diverse audiences.

  • Direct experience working with elected officials, legislative staff and / or political stakeholders.

  • Interest in the policy landscape related to state-level policy.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization, with a passion for creating positive social impact.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position.

  • Fully remote position.

  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, events, or site visits.

Compensation:

Competitive annual salary commensurate with experience ranging from $70,000 - $92,000. Benefits include:
