The Texas AFL-CIO is a statewide labor federation and serves as the leading voice for working families in Texas. Our office is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Digital Organizer to join our Communications team to build a bigger, broader, and more powerful labor movement in the state of Texas.
What you’ll do:

In coordination with the Communications Director, develop and implement digital organizing strategies to engage Texas AFL-CIO members, the public, and key stakeholders

Create high-quality written, visual, and multimedia content for the Texas AFL-CIO platforms

Maintain and grow the Texas AFL-CIO’s social media program
-
Oversee and update the Texas AFL-CIO website
-
Maintain and grow the email program, including managing the weekly newsletter
-
Oversee all Texas AFL-CIO digital actions, including petitions
-
Manage videography and photography needs for the organization
-
Manage graphic design creation
-
Assist with message development for organizing, politics, and policy
-
Assist with communications trainings for affiliates and partners
-
Assist with event coordination as-needed

Required qualifications include:

1-3 years of similar or related professional experience in digital communications
-
Excellent writing, verbal, and organizational skills
-
Ability to be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment

Ability to create clear, concise, and engaging content
-
Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively and prioritize work
-
A working knowledge of video editing and graphic design
-
Experience with some of the tools we use
-
Demonstrated strong commitment to the goals and mission of the labor movement
Preferred qualifications include:
-
Experience in digital organizing and content creation in a campaign setting or labor movement organization
-
Knowledge of Texas politics and the Texas Legislature
-
Knowledge of the labor movement
-
Spanish-language fluency
The job is covered by the collective bargaining agreement in our workplace with OPEIU Local 277, and the salary for this position is $64,687 with a competitive benefits package, including health care, dental, vision, and pension.
