It requires strategic leadership, strong organizational and management skills, and the ability to oversee multiple facets of campaign finance and operations.

Working closely with campaign staff, Senate leadership, and members, the Director will develop and implement a comprehensive finance plan for the cycle. They will oversee the Caucus’ overall fundraising and development strategy, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Strategy & Development:

  • Develop and execute a multi-faceted finance plan targeting multiple donor categories, including PACs, high-and-low dollar individuals, and institutional givers, in consultation with the Executive Director.

  • Manage and execute the Caucus’ digital fundraising program, including crafting compelling fundraising emails, optimizing online donor engagement, and tracking performance metrics, focusing on expanding the Caucus’ grassroots donor base.

  • Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities and build sustainable donor engagement strategies.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of national donors and institutions engaged in Maine and explore potential collaborations with new and existing funding partners.

  • Event Management & Donor Engagement:

  • Plan, schedule, and execute fundraising events ranging from small gatherings to events with 100+ attendees.

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, lobbyists, and elected officials across Maine.

  • Provide the necessary preparation for the Executive Director and Senate Leadership Team to maintain and strengthen relationships with major donors, institutional partners, and allies.

  • Call Time & Donor Systems:

  • Manage the Caucus call time calendar for members and staff, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in donor outreach.

  • Maintain and improve systems for call time, donor follow-up, donor gratitude, and re-solicitation.

  • Track and analyze call results, ensuring donor engagement efforts are strategic and data-driven.

  • Compliance & Financial Oversight:

  • Manage all aspects of compliance with state campaign finance laws.

  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of contributions and expenditures.

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to maintain financial transparency and accountability to Maine ethics laws.

  • Team Leadership & Member Support

  • Hire, coach, and manage a finance assistant in effective fundraising strategies.

  • Establish regular and repetitive lines of communication with incumbent members, providing guidance on best fundraising strategies and practices. Coach and train members to effectively engage with donors, maximize outreach efforts, and utilize fundraising tools to meet their goals.

  • Collaborate with consultants and staff to design and implement expenditures for the 2026 cycle.

Qualifications:

  • One to two cycles of experience in political fundraising and campaign finance with a strong track record of success.

  • Experience managing staff, with a demonstrated ability to delegate tasks, provide mentorship, and ensure accountability.

  • Event planning experience, particularly in managing high-profile political fundraising events.

  • Proficiency in NGP-VAN, ActBlue, Excel/Google Sheets; knowledge of Warchest is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of Maine campaign finance and ethics laws.

  • Experience in donor prospecting, research, and relationship management.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $75,000-80,000, commensurate with experience.

  • Full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, and dental insurance, paid time off, and more.

  • This position requires frequent travel across Maine and reliable access to a vehicle.

  • In-person role; employees should expect to live and work in Maine by June 2025.
