The ** Michigan House Democratic Fund (MHDF)** is seeking a talented and driven** Deputy Caucus Director** for the 2025-2026 election cycle. This individual will play a key role in helping Democrats retake the majority in the Michigan House of Representatives — one of the most critical battleground chambers in the country.
The Deputy Caucus Director will be responsible for developing and executing campaign plans for some of the most consequential state legislative races in Michigan and across the country. The Deputy Caucus Director will report to the Caucus Director and manage a slate of both incumbent protection and pickup targets, including hiring and managing staff for those campaigns. This is an in-person position, based in Lansing, MI, termed through December 31st, 2026.
Responsibilities include:

Create and execute aggressive incumbent support plans for frontline caucus members.

Work with candidates, consultants, campaign managers, and MHDF central staff to develop and execute highly tailored campaign plans for pickup targets, including field, fundraising, communications, and research.

Work with the Caucus Director to ensure the strategic allocation of resources (staff, funds, data, etc.) to support the most competitive and high-priority campaigns.

Oversee the development and execution of candidate and staff training programs

Hire, place, train, and manage campaign managers and other staff for races you oversee.

Serve as first point of contact for frontline candidates, target campaigns, campaign managers, and others for the slate of races you are responsible for, and for any other campaigns as needed.

Assist the Caucus Director with the development and execution of the paid media campaign, including the RFP process and creation of paid media assets, especially for races you are responsible for.

Liaise between MHDF leadership and central staff and targeted candidates and campaigns.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience working in Michigan or familiarity with the state’s political landscape preferred but not required.

Prior work in state legislative campaigns or caucus operations is a plus, but not required.

At least 2 cycles of campaign experience with at least one cycle in a leadership role such as Campaign Manager, Finance Director, Field Director, Communications Director, Political Director, etc.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with members, staff, partners, consultants, and candidates.

Have the ability to manage multiple short and long-term projects simultaneously, and are comfortable with juggling multiple and shifting priorities.

Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Proficiency with tools including Google Suite, Canva, VAN, etc.

Valid driver’s license required.
