JOB DESCRIPTION

A competitive Democratic congressional campaign based in Chicago is seeking a full-time ** Field Director** to lead an aggressive, data-driven voter contact program on the city’s West Side. This is a leadership role for someone with strong organizing instincts, a deep commitment to grassroots engagement, and a drive to build and manage an inclusive, motivated field team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive field plan in coordination with the Campaign Manager and senior staff

  • Hire, train, and manage organizers and volunteers across target neighborhoods

  • Set and track daily and weekly field goals using voter contact tools (e.g., VAN/VoteBuilder)

  • Manage field reporting, data collection, and quality control systems

  • Organize and attend community events, canvases, and phone/text banks

  • Collaborate with the digital and communications teams to support integrated outreach strategies

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with local stakeholders and community leaders

Qualifications:

  • At least 1–2 full campaign cycles of field or organizing experience, preferably on the West Side of Chicago

  • Experience managing staff or volunteer teams in a political or advocacy context

  • Proficiency with voter contact tools such as VAN or PDI

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Commitment to progressive values and grassroots organizing
