Team Jason Esteves is seeking a Communications Director to become a key member of the campaign leadership team, working closely with senior and communications staff to elect Jason Esteves as the next Governor of Georgia.
The team is looking for an applicant who is ready to manage a communications team as well as oversee the campaign’s rapid response infrastructure and earned media strategy. This position takes place in a fast-paced, campaign environment that regularly requires accurate work on tight deadlines, proactive problem solving, and the ability to manage competing priorities and projects. The Communications Director will report to the Campaign Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead quarterly communications planning
- Build and manage campaign’s rapid response infrastructure
- Build and manage network of surrogates for print, TV, and radio appearances
- Serve as the main point of contact for key Georgia political reporters, national reporters, as well as serving as primary campaign spokesperson
- Lead and plan candidate media prep ahead of interviews
- Manage members of the communications team, including Press Secretary
- Work with other members of the campaign leadership team to plan and oversee open press events
- Coordinate with internal and external strategic partners on behalf of the campaign communications team
Qualifications
- Three cycles of campaign experience including at least one cycle in a mid-level or senior communications role
- On-the-record experience required
- Experience on a gubernatorial or statewide campaign a plus
- Access to a car and ability to easily travel
Logistics
- Salary: $90,000 to $112,000, commensurate with experience
- Location: Atlanta, GA
- Hours: This position’s schedule will vary based on the needs of the campaign and point in the cycle, and is likely to require evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
