JOB DESCRIPTION

P26 is the home for Pennsylvania students who are ready to challenge the far-right's attack on our futures and build a Pennsylvania where Gen-Z can lead and thrive.

This Fall, Pennsylvania residents will be voting on whether to keep three of our state supreme court justices on the bench. The outcome of this election will impact the court’s ability to stand up to bad actors and fight for our economic future for the next decade. In the past few years, this court has:

  • Guaranteed overtime pay for overtime work

  • Stood up to Amazon and Uber to ensure that all workers receive fair pay and benefits

  • Halted efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election

  • Upheld programs to pay recent graduates for early career internships

At an estimated 766,000 registered voters enrolled in colleges and universities across the state, Gen-Z students have the power to determine the outcomes of these elections--but only if we get organized now.

Building on work started during the 2023 State Supreme Court Election and in the 2024 Presidential election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative team that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the upcoming November elections, including the PA Supreme Court Election.

What Will You Do?

Our Regional Organizing Directors will manage teams of organizers located on key campuses across Pennsylvania. The role will start in mid-July and run through mid-November. RODs will be expected to be located within their region, preferably close to one of the universities they are managing. This position requires a significant amount of in-person work and travel.

Responsibilities include:

Regional Team Management (35%)

  • Manage a team of campus organizers across your assigned region to reach weekly volunteer recruitment and voter contact goals, with a focus on in-person volunteer engagement.

  • Facilitate daily check-ins, check-outs, 1:1s meetings, weekly trainings, and regular team calls to support staff development and performance.

Adaptive Organizing & Innovation (25%)

  • Develop creative strategies and systems that will be most effective at reaching students on your campuses and lead your team to successfully engage young voters and hit organizing metrics.

  • Support your team in testing and refining new outreach tactics to increase volunteer engagement and GOTV outcomes.

Data Integrity & Reporting (20%)

  • Implement clear data and reporting procedures, adhere to established data standards, and ensure data integrity.

  • Oversee timely and accurate data entry by organizers into platforms include VAN, BLOCKS, and Mobilize.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication (20%)

  • Take initiative to build trust with and establish regular coordination with key stakeholders and partners.

  • Communicate clearly up and down the chain of command, including by rolling out campaign priorities, sharing key field learnings to HQ, and assisting in the development of statewide adaptations, where appropriate.

Who Are You?

As a successful candidate for this job, you will:

  • Have at least 2 cycles of organizing experience, with a strong preference for at least 1 cycle of experience training teams of staff, leaders, interns, and/or volunteers. Campus organizing experience is a plus, but not required.

  • Creative and adaptive–excited to think outside the box and to ideate and innovate to find the most exciting and effective GOTV tactics.

  • A strong understanding of Google Suite and VAN, and an eagerness to use data to coach staff.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build a positive, solutions-oriented team culture and engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Highly organized and self-directed, with sharp attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong commitment to progressive values and empowering young people through organizing and leadership development.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work long, irregular hours; including weekends.

  • Be located near or be willing to relocate to one of our focus campuses.

  • Have a driver's license and access to a reliable car.

Position Details

  • **Compensation & Hours: **Compensation for this role is $6,000/month, and includes PTO, health benefits, and a technology stipend. This is a full-time role.

  • There may be points throughout the year where Regional Organizing Directors are asked to work additional hours and/or weekends (specifically around Welcome Weeks and GOTV).

  • Blackout Periods: Over the course of any given election cycle, our organization will go through several key mobilization periods–during these dates, we will have a staff “blackout” on PTO. This means that barring parental, bereavement, or another protected leave class, staff will not be able to take PTO during these times.

  • 10 days before a General or Primary election

  • 10 days before a Voter Registration Deadline

  • The month of August

  • To Apply: Please submit this short application. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we strongly encourage Black, indigenous, people of color, women, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and others who identify with underrepresented groups to apply.
